Wrist TV Maker NHJ Files Bankruptcy
NHJ has filed bankruptcy in Japan. NHJ is known for it's innovative but low priced gadgets. The most famous is mayb the NHJ Wrist TV.
NHJ was incorporated in 1999 in Japan. Not much is known on why the business is bankrupt. NHJ developed digital cameras under it's
Che-ez brand, mp3 players, portable video players and other gadgets. NHJ had the first MP3 wrist watch if I am not mistaken.
Brankruptcy does not necessarily mean the business and the products go away. Either they find new money or somebody buys the company to continue it. Worst case it will just go away.
Maybe the reason was that the Hello Kitty licensing fees where just too high.

NHJ 1GB Candi MP3 Player also wants to be iPod shuffle
NHJ Japan introduces a display-less mp3 player called Candi.
Couple hours ago, I wrote about the new
Asono play, which also goes against the iPod shuffle. Those iPod shuffle clones get a bit boring. To spice it up, NHJ thought why not use male gadget models to promote the Candi. Well why not. The guy in the photo is actually from a Japanese dance group called Bugs under Groove.
I do not think the NHJ Candi is under groove.

NHJ Wrist TV VTV-201 now Available in Europe
The NHJ Wrist TV is now selling in the UK.
We reviewed the US (NTSC) NHJ Wrist TV VTV-101 last May.
NHJ gave the PAL version of the Wrist TV a new model number: VTV-201. It also has slight updates. The TV unit has rounder edges and the buttons on the TV watch are red compared to the VTV-101 that is available in the US.
The NHJ VTV-201 (PAL) Wrist TV sells for £129.95 at Amazon.co.uk.

NHJ launches 5GB Bluetooth Wireless MP3 Player
NHJ launches in Japan the VHD-5500 wireless mp3 player with 5GB hard-drive.
The VHD-5500 player comes with a wireless headset that is connected to the main unit via Bluetooth. This is the first Hard-drive MP3 player that supports Bluetooth as far as I know. There have been flash players already with bluetooth in the past. The VHD-5500 was first shown last October at a convention in Japan.
NHJ's wireless MP3 player supports WMA and MP3 files. It features USB 2.0, LCD display, 14 hours battery life and a voice recorder. Measurements are (L)75 x (W)48 x (H)27.1mm. Weight is 58.6g. Price in Japan is 45,000 yen (~420USD).

NHJ did not stop at Sanrio Hello Kitty branded gadgets, they also offer a Real Madrid branded MP3 Player.
I assume this mp3 player is aimed at the soccer fan, NHJ offers a special edition of its V@mp VP-325 Color Screen flash music player with Real Madrid club logo. More details on NHJ's Real Madrid site. There is also a Real Madrid branded Mobile Phone from Siemens (see story on Engadget). |

NHJ is at it again and releases more Sanrio Hello Kitty branded mp3 players. We reported about the Hello Kitty Camcorder just recently.
The NHJ VP-525D (photo above) features 256MB and has a SD Card slot. It plays MP3 and WMA. The Sanrio branded gadget measures 48x58x20mm and weighs 35g. More details on NHJ product page (Japanese). We reported about the NHJ VP-500D series already. The Hello Kitty NHJ VP-415 (photo below shows it with speaker docking station) only has 128MB, but it also features an SD Card slot. Hello Kitty NHJ Che-ez! v:u2 MP4 Camcorder

Hello Kitty, the most often licensed cat in the universe, turns another gadget into a pink, little girls dream device (see other Hello Kitty Gadgets below).
This time its the NHJ Che-ez! v:u2 Camcorder. The Che-ez! v:u2 is a 3.0MP MP4 camcorder. The digital camcorder can record video in 320 x 240 pixel (max. 20 frames/s) and 640 x 480 pixel (max. 12 frames/s) recording sizes. It has a 4x digital zoom and uses SD-Cards (max. 256MB). The preview screen is 1.4" in size. The v:u2 has a TV out to view video directly on TVs. NHJ states that the Hello Kitty camcorder comes soon. More details on the Che-ez! site. 3.2MP Digital Camera under $100: NHJ D'Zign DZ-3000
NHJ introduces in Japan a new 3.2MP Digital Camera that is selling for 9980 yen, which is about $92.
The NHZ D'Zign DZ-3000 looks similar to the last year announced DZ-300 but does not feature the sliding lens cover. The DZ-3000 has 16MB internal memory and can be used with SD-Cards up to 256MB. A 1.4 inch LCD screen, USB 1.1, AVI video recording at 320x240 pixels are amongst the features. The D'Zign DZ-3000 measures W86mm×H55mm×D35mm and weighs 85g. The low-cost 3.2MP digital camera comes in 5
colors.

New 2GB HDD Digital Camcorder by NHJ - D'zign DV-5
JVC pioneered the HDD digital camcorder with the JVC Everio, now as predicted other companies start to introduce digital camcorder with hard-drives.
NHJ Japan launches the D'zign DV-5 that features a 2GB hard-drive. The camcorder records video in MP4 format (640x480 with 30fps). The 3.2MP camcorder can also be used as MP3 Player. The D'zign measures 82mm × 73mm x 35mm. NHJ sells their products through Target in the US. Most likely the D'zign DV-5 will come this year to the US as well.

New NHJ 5GB MP3 Player VHD-5000
NHJ introduces now also a 5GB small MP3 Player. NHJ is usually pretty innovative (TV Wristwatch, Foxz 3 Camera, MPM-201 PVP), but the new 5GB MP3 player VHD-5000 is very me too and looks boring.
The NHJ VHD-5000 looks similar to the 1.5GB VHD-1500 and plays WMA, MP3 and OGG files. 18 hours play time, USB 2.0 and a 128x128 pixels is featured by this 5GB MP3 player.

New NHJ Foxz3 12mm thin 3.2MP Digital Camera
Camborg reports about a new ultra-thin NHJ Che-ez Foxz digital camera.
The Foxz3 features 3.2 Mega-Pixel and a 2 inch preview screen. The kick are the measurements of the Foxz3: （W）100mm ×（H）58mm ×（D）12mm. At 12mm it is thinner than the Casio EX-S100. Of course the casio has better optics. The weight of the Che-ez Foxz3 is 86g. The Foxz3 should still go on the market in December in Japan.

NHJ Wristwatch Television on Sale for $179.99
The only TV wristwatch on the market just got cheaper. Target who carries most of NHJ's products currently sells the NHJ Wristwatch TV for a low $179.99.
We reviewed the Wristwatch TV back in May. The NHJ VTV-101 is basically the smallest portable TV on the market. The versatility of the design of the NHJ wearable TV is a big plus, because users are not stuck to just wear it on the wrist. As long as there is good terrestrial TV reception the wrist TV works resonable well. I got feedback from people in New York where the Wrist TV is not working well because of the sky-scrapers.

New NHJ Dzign DZ-300 Very Red Digital Camera
Camborg reports about a new NHJ Dzign digital camera.
NHJ releases a new Digital Camera in their Dzign label. The Dzign DZ-300 features a compact design with bright colors. A sliding lens cover ala Sony DSC-T1 is used to switch on the camera. The NHJ Dzign DZ-300 can take photos with a max. resolution of 2048×1536. It takes SD Memory cards up to 256MB size. The LCD screen measures 1.4 inch. Shutter speed is 1 second - 1/1000 seconds. It measures 82mm×54.2mm×25mm.

New NHJ VHD-1500 1.5GB HDD Music Player
NHJ Japan releases a new Hard-drive based small Music player. The VHD-1500 is lighter than the iPod mini and plays OGG, MP3 and WMA.
It features a 1.5 GB hard-drive that can hold about 350 songs. I do not understand why NHJ is not offering a 4GB HD, that would enable them to compete directly with Apple. Maybe Apple bought all 4GB drives on the planet, who knows. The VHD-1500 measures 87.5mm x 50mm x 17.2mm and weighs 70g. The display has 128×128dots graphics display. Direct encoding and FM receiver are built-in. The battery holds 18 hours.

NHJ will sell this iPod mini competitor on the japanese market for 30,000yen (~$268). Apple offers a trade-in program in Japan for their old iPods in order to maintain its customers.

NHJ launches 30/60GB Personal Video Player MPM-201/202
NHJ announces their portable MP4 Players MPM-201 and MPM-202.
Amazon.com sells the NHJ MPM-201 for $449.00.
The NHJ MPM series features a 3.5" LCD screen with 480x234 pixels, USB 2.0 and a TV tuner in the cradle stand. It also comes with a remote. The unit measures 140.4(L) x 30.5(H) x 80.4(W)mm and weighs 288.6g without battery. The NHJ MPM-201 features a 30GB and the MPM-202 a 60GB hard-drive.
That is a pretty neat idea to integrate a TV tuner, so it can be used also as a small portable TV.
