Touch-Screen Asus Eee PC Netbooks come in 2009
The call for touch screen Asus Eee PC netbooks came early on and rumors about Asus releasing touch enabled Eee PCs have been swirling since January.
Now Digitimes reports that Asus is planning to launch touch screen Eee PC computers in the first quarter of 2009.
The new Touch-Screen Asus Eee PC will most likely debut at the CES 2009.

Asus Eee PC S101 Netbook unveiled
Asus officially announced the Asus Eee PC S101. Unlike the report we filed in August the S101 still carries the Eee PC brand. Back then Asus made it look like they were going to launch the S101 outside of the Eee PC line.
Asus aims the S101 netbook at fashion forward consumers. The Asus Eee PC S101 features a stylish new design and comes in Brown, Champagne, or Graphite colors.

Asus shipped 700,000 Asus Eee Netbooks last Month
Despite the huge competition of new netbooks Asus is has shipped 700,000 Eee netbooks in September according to the Commerical Times newspaper.
The Chinese newspaper continues saying that Asus has shipped 1.7m Eee netbooks in the 3rd quarter and that level is expected to be met in the strong Holiday Sales Quarter.

Linux on Netbooks a Failure?
A comment made by MSI’s Director of U.S. Sales Andy Tung in an interview with LaptopMag has raised the question if Linux is a failure on netbooks. He said that MSI Wind customers are 4x more likely to return a Wind netbook with Linux than with Windows XP installed.
Asus pioneered the netbook and the first ones were actually running Linux. Microsoft got there foot in with Windows XP at the last moment. If you look at the top selling netbooks on Amazon than you see the first 5 spots taken by Windows XP netbooks.

Averatec 10.2-inch Netbook Announced
Averatec announced its first netbook called Buddy. The netbook has the normal specs you find on the market today with a 10.2-inch LCD, 160GB HDD, 1GB of RAM and a 1.6GHz Atom CPU.
The netbook runs Windows XP and has Wi-Fi onboard as well. Averatec's Buddy will retail for $449.99. There is nothing here that isn’t already offered on other netbooks on the market. Averatec is usually known for lower prices on its product than competitors, even the price on the case is about average. Read more

Windows CE to run on Acer Aspire One and Lenovo S9 Netbooks
Currently Netbooks run Windows XP and Linux. The low-end models sure run better with Linux because Windows XP needs more resources. For Windows fans Windows CE would be the solution to run on the cheapest netbooks.
Quarta Mobile has now announced the development of an open source shell to enable enthusiasts and netbook makers to install Windows Embedded CE 6.0 on netbooks.
The company starts with the Acer Aspire One and the Lenovo IdeaPad S9.

Gigabyte M912V Touch Screen Netbook Review
Gigabyte offers an Atom based Notebook with a 8.9 inch touch screen dubbed Gigabyte M912V. Hardware Canucks got their hands on this new interesting netbook and published a review.

Eltrinex netbook features 320GB HDD
Czech company Eltrinex offers a netbook with a 320GB HDD. The Eltrinex netbook runs on a 1.6GHz VIA C7-M CPU and features a 10.2 inch display.
The MobilePC seems to retail for around $700 in the Czech Republic.

Toshiba, Samsung and Sony to join Netbook Craze
Better late than never, might be the mantra of Toshiba, Samsung and Sony when it comes to releasing a netbook.
Toshiba will release the Satellite NB105 (photo), which already leaked on the Mexican site.
The Satellite NB105 features an 8.9 inch screen with 1024 x 600px resolution, Intel 1.6Ghz Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD, LAN, WiFi, 3 USB ports and runs Windows XP.

Blue Acer Aspire One Netbook tops Sales Charts
What a difference a color can make. The Sapphire Blue Acer Aspire One netbook tops the netbook sales charts on Amazon.com and on Walmart.com.
On Amazon the Blue Acer Aspire One 8.9 inch netbook (Windows XP) with 160GB HDD and 1GB RAM is in the lead selling for $399.99.
On Walmart.com the Acer Aspire One (Linux) with 8GB SSD and 512MB is on top selling for only $338.

The Dell Inspiron 910 aka Dell Inspiron Mini 9 product pages are live on the Dell site. The pages are not linked on the Dell site yet and Dell did not officially announce the Mini 9 netbook yet, but the links are out and you can order the Inspiron 9 with Windows XP or with Ubuntu Linux.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with 8GB SSD and Windows XP starts at $449.

Dell Inspiron 910 Netbook launches this Week
The Dell Inspiron 910 netbook was rumored to launch already in August, but it did not happen. Now Dell said it will finally launch the Dell Inspiron 910 this week. The WSJ claims that Dell will release the netbook on Thursday.
Dell made no further comment on the apparently leaked specifications or the possible pricing of the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 (910).

Dell Inspiron 910 Netbook Ubuntu Screen-shots leaked
The Inspiron 910, Dell's entry into the netbook market, generates a lot of interest and the anticipation for the release is mounting. I guess Dell will go official with the Inspiron 910 next week. For now Engadget has posted some screen-shots of the Inspiron 910 running Ubuntu 8.04 Linux.
The screens show a quick launch toolbar desk and the photos also reveal a look at the 8.9 inch screen and the keyboard of the Dell Inspiron 910.

Lenovo S10 Netbook early Review
Lenovo unveiled the IdeaPad S10 netbook earlier this month. The Atom based IdeaPad S10 starts at $429. Laptop magazine got their hands on a IdeaPad S10 and published an early hands-on review of the 10 inch netbook.
Quote from the review: "The Lenovo S10 left a good taste in my mouth. I walked away from my 45 minutes alone with it only wanting more time with it. The solid manufacturing quality, along with its spacious keyboard indicate that, as a piece of hardware, the S10 is one of the best.

Dell Inspiron 910 Netbook almost here
Dell's entry (aka Dell mini) into the netbook arena is supposedly almost here as all specification details have already leaked.
The only missing piece is the final price. The rumored release date for the Inspiron 910 is August 22nd.

RealNetworks is announcing the availability of its popular RealPlayer on Intel Atom netbooks and nettops at the Intel l Developer Forum (IDF).
By working with RealNetworks, the netbook and nettop OEMs can bundle a Moblin-optimized media player that includes the most sought-after media format support, decreasing their development, legal and administrative costs and reducing time-to-market.
Devices that use the Intel Atom processor with Moblin based OS will have the added benefit of highly optimized performance and battery life when playing media content. MSI Wind Netbook Factory Visit
MadboxPC got a chance to visit the MSI factory where they manufacture one of the best netbooks on the market, the MSI Wind.
The MSI factory is located in Kunshan, a few kilometers from Shanghai. The report has several nice photos showing the process of putting a MSI Wind netbook together.
