New iPhone App Gives Access to Live Traffic Cams
iPhone users in certain cities can now get access to live traffic cameras on the iPhone via an application called Mobileyes. The application shows how traffic is moving and helps commuters avoid traffic jams.
The application covers several major US cities and more are coming. Cities covered now include -- Detroit, Hartford, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Knoxville, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. The application can be changed between low, medium, and high-resolution images depending on the connection speed of the phone. Read more

Europe without new iPhone 3G Stock until October
German magazine Focus reports that the iPhone 3G is completely sold out across Europe and that new inventory would not arrive until October. This would mean that iPhone fans would have to spend the summer without the new iPhone 3G if they did not pick one up yet.
The magazine says that they got the information about the dramatic iPhone 3G shortage from a manager at Apple.

New iPhone 2.0 Firmware has 3G On/Off Code
Developers finally found some 3G related code in the latest iPhone SDK Beta 5.
The code is specifically a preference setting allowing users to switch off 3G.
With this the option Apple gives users the ability to extend battery life.

New iPhone SDK Beta 5 released
Apple has yet released another beta release of the iPhone SDK and 2.0 firmware.
It is not known yet from iPhone developers what is new in the new beta release. The download is smaller than before, possibly indicating that Apple removed debug code.

3G iPhone to be thinner and AT&T to subsidize new iPhone
We are about 6 weeks away from the WWDC 08, were Steve Jobs is expected to unveil the 3G iPhone. This will be tough weeks as rumors surrounding the next generation iPhone already reach very high levels.
Initial rumors that the new 3G iPhone would be thinner got more confirmations with new rumors appearing yesterday. Additionally new rumors from Taiwan Economic News, Via AppleInsider even talk about a more compact iPhone with a smaller screen (2.5 inch instead of 3 inch) and less weight.

Apple releases new iPhone 2.0 OS and SDK Beta 3
Apple released another iPhone 2.0 OS update and the iPhone SDK Beta 3 today. The last iPhone SDK update is just about 10 days old. Update: Reason for the rapid release of the update is the fact that the previous beta iPhone 2.0 OS expired. Developers could not continue to work on their iPhone apps.
The new iPhone 2.0 beta firmware version 5A240d is providing fixes and improvements around Microsoft Exchange support according to MacRumors.
