SimCity Creator Coming to Wii and Nintendo DS

EA announced this week that a new SimCity title would be coming to the Nintendo Wii and DS game systems as an exclusive title. The game is called SimCity Creator and is described as an open-ended game that is highly creative.

The game will allow users to create and destroy cities and is promised to be the most light-hearted and accessible game from the SimCity franchise. The title is set to ship on September 22nd in North America and September 19th in Europe and Asia. Read more

Nintendo is introducing three new very strong Nintendo DS colors in Europe this June. In the same announcement Nintendo also announces the Cooking Guide: Can’t Decide What To Eat? software.

I slowly get how Nintendo's marketing came to the idea to announce new DS colors and a cooking guide in the same message. The new Red, Turquoise and Green Nintendo DS colors are apparently tasty and mouth-watering. Read more

Two Pokemon Games Introduced for Nintendo DS

The latest installments in the Pokemon video game franchise put players in the game from the perspective of a Pokemon character. The two games are called Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Darkness and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time.

A contest goes along with the two new game releases that allows fans a chance to win a prize package of Pokemon and Nintendo gear. The contest runs from April 23rd to May 21st and fans can win a limited edition Pikachu Nintendo DS, a Wii, HD TV, and other Pokemon video games. 100 Million Nintendo DS Titles sold in Japan alone

Nintendo seems to have reached a tremendous milestone for their Nintendo DS portable console in Japan. Japanese sales analyst Media Create announced that the 100 million pieces of software for the Nintendo DS have been sold in Japan.

Just to put that in perspective: EA just announced this week that The Sims reached the 100 million sales mark globally. Read more

Eidos Announces Gauntlet for Nintendo DS

I recall one of my first multi-player gaming experiences when I was young, Gauntlet in the arcade. Any gamer who spent time in an arcade in their youth will recall the game with four joysticks that let others jump in during the game.

Eidos and Backbone Entertainment announced today that Gauntlet was coming to the Nintendo DS game system offering fast paced, retro gameplay. The screen shots look very much like what I recall from my youth of wasted quarters playing the game. The game is due for release in summer 2008. Read more

Imagine Rock Star for Nintendo DS

Even young girls like to play video games today and to cater to this crowd Ubisoft has a full line of games called Imagine. The latest title in the series is called Imagine Rock Star and is aimed at girls age 6 to 14. The Rock Star title will be available in June of 2008.

The game allows players to form their own band and climb the record charts to become music legends. Players can choose band mates and the instruments they play. Control for the instruments is via the DS stylus. Read more

2K Releases Carnival Games for Nintendo DS & Wii

2K Play announced a couple of new versions of its Carnival Games franchise for Nintendo game systems today. The two new games include Carnival Games for the Nintendo DS, which will ship this summer. The other game is Carnival Games: Mini-golf for the Wii.

The Wii title will ship this fall. "The success of Carnival Games is proof that the casual game market continues to grow," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. Disney Announces Ultimate Band for Wii & Nintendo DS

Disney Interactive Studios introduces its own music game today called Ultimate Band. Disney says the game is for music fans of all ages and requires no expensive peripherals like Rock Band. The game will be available for the Nintendo Wii and DS game systems.

Players can play as a group with other friends or play a solo game as well. The Wii Remote and DS stylus control all the action. Players can choose from guitar, bass, drums, or be the front man for the band. "Ultimate Band invites kids, tweens and teens to join in the jam session," said Craig Relyea, senior vice president, global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. "And whether they choose guitar, drums, bass or front man, members don't need to buy costly, single-function peripherals to play their way through Ultimate Band's deep song list, dynamic venues, and customizable characters. Nintendo has a new and unique game for its DS portable game system called Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day. The game trains the users in hand-eye coordination, peripheral vision, and visual acuity.

The handheld bubble might burst for Nintendo in Japan as Sony had a stronger week of sales of the Sony PSP.

Nintendo is riding a huge wave with the Wii, the Nintendo DS is loosing ground in Japan amidst new versions of the PSP and new exclusive game titles.

Zoo Tycoon 2 Coming to Nintendo DS

THQ announced today that Zoo Tycoon 2 is heading for the Nintendo DS portable game system soon. The game is scheduled to be released in early 2008. Oddly the press release I read says you can get more information about the game on the THQ site, but none is given. The screen shot you see here is from the original Zoo Tycoon on the DS.

Zoo Tycoon 2 promises improved gameplay, and new features to make the game more enjoyable. Three game modes will be included for gamers who like different tasks. Read more

Yellow Limited Edition Nintendo DS Lite

Pokemon fans, Nintendo is following in Microsoft’s footsteps and offering up a yellow DS Lite that is nearly an exact match for the Homer Simpson Xbox 360’s yellow hue. The catch is that the Pikachu-yellow DS Lite is a limited edition. The system includes an etching of Pikachu on the front and a yellow stylus.

So limited in are the systems in fact, that you can only get the chance to buy one of the DS Lite's via lottery at the Japanese Pokemon Center. The price is $139 and you can enter the lottery on July 20. Read more
