OCZ Unveils 1TB Colossus 3.5-inch SSD
OCZ has unveiled its latest storage product called the Colossus 3.5-inch SSD with 1TB of storage. The massive capacity SSD is a 3.5-inch device aimed at desktop computer users and enterprise users. Smaller capacity versions of the Colossus are available as well.
The SSD has an internal RAID 0 configuration for better performance. The maximum read speed is 260MB/s, maximum write is 260MB/s and the sustained write speed is 220MB/s. the entire line is also built using lower cost MLC NAND flash. If 1TB is, too much space for you the Colossus is available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB capacities. Read more

OCZ Technology and SandForce Team Up for New SSDs
OCZ has announced that it will be working on some new SSDs in conjunction with SandForce for consumer and enterprise users. The new line of SSDs will use the SandForce SSD Processor. OCZ will use the SF-1500 and the SF-1200 processors in the new SSDs.
Along with the processors, the SSDs will also use SLC and MLC flash memory and utilize the 3Gbps SATA and 6Gbps SAS interfaces. Capacities for the new line of SSDs will run from 50GB to 400GB. Read more

Today we are checking out the dual interface USB and eSATA OCZ Throttle 32GB flash drive. When connected to a PC via the eSATA interface the Throttle is the fastest flash drive I have ever tested.

OCZ Launches Backlit Alchemy Keyboard
OCZ has announced its latest keyboard called the Alchemy Illuminati. The new keyboard isn't based on a book about a secret society, rather it has backlit keys. The keyboard has rubber-coated keys and offers users the ability to switch between red and blue backlighting.
I am a big fan of backlit keyboards and I am glad to see OCZ offer one up in its low-cost Alchemy line. Backlighting is great for working and gaming in dark rooms like LAN parties and playing at night. The keyboard has 14 multimedia keys and offers Internet hotkeys as well. Read more

OCZ introduces Flash Drive with eSATA Interface
Earlier this month OCZ introduced a new flash drive that uses the eSATA interface rather than USB like virtually all flash drives on the market. The use of the eSATA interface means considerably higher performance than a USB flash drive can deliver.
OCZ claims that the Throttle can write at up to 30MB/sec and read at up to 90MB/sec. Storage capacities available include 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB. For times when the computer available lacks an eSATA port the drive also features a mini USB port. Read more

OCZ Core SSDs Hands-On Review
A few weeks back OCZ announced its new lower cost Core series SSD drives. The Core series drives were significantly cheaper than other offerings on the market with a 128GB SSD going for $479. Laptop Magazine has got hands on the drives and offered up some fast benchmarks in front of a full review.
Laptop found that the read rate for the drive was 112.4Mbps and the drive had a seek time of 1ms. HD Tach gave the drive an average read time of 89.5Mbps. Boot time using the Core SSD was 36.3 seconds, less than a second slower than the much more expensive Samsung SSD. To copy a 5GB file using the 64GB OCZ core series SSD took 3 minutes and 59 seconds. OCZ Technology Launches New Gear at Computex
OCZ Technology has launched some interesting new gear at Computex. One of the most interesting products is OCZ’s new DDR3 PC3-17000 Flex II memory modules. The modules can be liquid cooled and run at speeds of 2133MHz+.
PC Power and Cooling is also releasing a new PSU called the TurboCool 860 that is NVIDIA ESA certified. New flash drives are also being offered with a small compact Spyder unit, a larger higher capacity drive called the Diesel and a drive called the Fortress. Read more

Best CPU Cooler is OCZ Vendetta 2 according to Comparison
Benchmark Reviews published a comparison of several CPU Cooler products and identified the OCZ Vendetta 2. I just installed this week the Scythe Ninja Plus Rev. B and I'm totally happy with it. My system runs much more silent now than before with the Intel packaged CPU cooler.
