President Barack Obama just got the Nobel Peace Prize. This is quite a surprise as Barack Obama has only been at work a couple of months.
The Nobel Prize committee sums it up with: "For his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples".
The Nobel Prize committee likes Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.

Obama keeps his BlackBerry for real
We already reported yesterday about a report claiming that Obama will keep his BlackBerry for private use. Now Obama's Press Secretary Robert Gibbs confirmed in his first press conference that Obama will keep his BlackBerry.
Obama will use his BlackBerry only to communicate with relatives and some senior stuff. All communication on the President's BlackBerry falls under the Presidential Records Act.

Obama said to keep a Security Software enhanced BlackBerry
Now that Barack Obama is President, the question on weather he had to give up his beloved BlackBerry should be answered soon. According to a report by Marc Ambinder from The Atlantic, via CNET Obama's BlackBerry has been outfitted with a encryption software and now he is supposed to be able to use it for personal use. Update: Obama administration confirms that Obama will continue to use his BlackBerry.

Obama Inauguration to be captured in 3D by You and Microsoft Photosynth
CNN has a very cool project that uses Microsoft's Photosynth to generate a detailed 3D space of the photos Inauguration attendees send in.
The moment that will be captured is when Barack Obama is putting his hands on the Bible to take the presidential oath at 12pm ET.
If you are lucky enough to be close enough to see Obama you should take one photo of the moment when Obama takes the oath. If you have a digital camera with a zoom lens, take three photos (wide-angle, mid-zoom, full-zoom). Email each photo to themoment@cnn.com. DirecTV has setup an Obama Channel and Verizon FiOS TV provides all subscribers free access to HBO's Exclusive Obama Inauguration Celebration Special.
Tuesday is the big day when the history of the US changes once again and hopefully for the better.
FiOS TV subscribers -- whether they subscribe to HBO or not -- can see the HBO pre-inaugural special on channels HBO East on 400, HBO HD on 899, HBO West on 401 and HBO West HD on 901 at 2:30 p.m. EST and 11:30 a.m. PST.

President elect Barack Obama is the best spokes person RIM ever had. Everybody on the planet knows that the soon to be US President is a BlackBerry addict. When he becomes President on January 20th he is supposed to hand over the BlackBerry because of security reasons.

Verizon Employees accessed Barack Obama's Cellphone Account
Verizon has a little scandal on their hands. Verizon Wireless President and CEO Lowell McAdam released a statement today that a number of Verizon Wireless employees have, without authorization, accessed and viewed President-Elect Barack Obama’s personal cell phone account. The account has been inactive for several months. The device on the account was a simple voice flip-phone, not the BlackBerry he is seen using most of the time.

No more BlackBerry for Obama when He is Mr. President
The NY Times runs a story about Barack Obama most likely having to give up using his BlackBerry phone when he becomes President in January 2009.
Barack Obama is known of heavy BlackBerry use involving emails and documents.
Besides security the much bigger problem is the Presidential Records Act, which would put each email into the official record and ultimately for public access and risk of subpoenas.
Maybe Barack Obama should look into advice from the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is also known as SMS Chancellor into how to realign the laws to continue using mobile email.

The U.S. voted a new President. History has been made by Barack Obama becoming the next President of the United States. The internet is attributed a big part in this historic success of a presidential candidate. The grass roots movement would not have been possible.
Not only the U.S. is celebrating today. Kenya called out a national holiday for today. A town called Obama in Japan is celebrating for obvious reasons too. Apparently lots of people gathered in front of the White House in Washington to celebrate and steal George Bush's sleep.

Sprint excited about Obama's Joe Biden VP Pick SMS
Barack Obama announced today via an SMS text message to supporters that Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Biden would be Obama’s pick for vice president. Reason enough for Sprint to issue a press-release praising their SMS service.
Traffic on Sprint's short code for the Obama campaign rose 255% following the announcement, which was texted shortly after 3:00 a.m. EST.
At 3am not that many people actually are texting, just a couple of lost hearts out there.

Joe Biden is Obama VP Candidate
The guessing is over. Barack Obama nominates Delaware Sen. Joe Biden for his Vice President.
It looks like Obama chose someone who covers the skills that his critics say he does not have.
Biden has as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee years of experience in foreign policy.
