Beijing Olympics end with massive Viewership

LOS ANGELES/BEIJING (Hollywood Reporter) - NBC Universal smashed yet another
historic ratings benchmark: The Beijing Olympics is the most-watched U.S.
television event of all time.
Through 16 days of coverage, 211 million viewers tuned in to the Olympics on NBC
Universal's broadcast and cable outlets, according to NBC citing Nielsen Media

China Mobile TV hangs its Hopes on Olympics

BEIJING (Reuters) - Many Chinese unable to catch the Olympics on television will
watch national hurdling hero Liu Xiang retain his 110 meter crown next week by
simply switching on their cellphone.
That, at least, is the dream outcome for the backers of mobile TV, for whom the

Watching the Olympics Online shows the invisible Borders of the Web
The Olympic Games 2008 are underway in Beijing and you can actually watch the Olympics online in case you live in the right country.
Like with the movie services which are more and more becoming real alternatives to discs, the Olympic coverage is restricted to the boundaries of countries. If you believe that the web is supposed to link us globally and make us global citizens this country specific rights selling of media is really worrying and annoying me. I want to watch online what I want and not be limited by where my computer is located.

Olympics 2008 in 3D on Google Earth
Google announced several services for the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing including detailed 3D models of the Olympic venues in China.
Google also recently updated satellite imagery in Beijing and have added detailed bilingual maps in China.
