Onkyo Announces New THX Certified Home Theater Package

Onkyo has announced a new THX certified home theater in a box bundle called the Onkyo HT-S9100THX. The system combines a powerful Onkyo receiver with a 7.1 channel speaker system. The receiver has many features including HDMI 1.3 inputs, Faroudja DCDi video upscaling and more.

The receiver will decode the latest HD formats including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The receiver has 130 watts per channel and the subwoofer included is self-powered with a 290-watt amp. The complete system carries the bargain price of only $1099. Read more

Onkyo to stop HD DVD Player Sales

Onkyo has reportedly halted sales of their HD DVD players.

Reports say that Toshiba will announce the end of HD DVD today in Japan, I have also read reports that say Wednesday. There are not that many companies that actually made HD DVD players beside Toshiba. Onkyo introduced their first HD DVD player at the end of last year.
The Onkyo HD805 was selling in the U.S. and Europe. Read more

Onkyo HDMI v1.3 HT-SP908 Home Theater in a Box

Onkyo has announced a new home theater in a box system that uses the new HDMI v1.3 specifications. The system is a full 7.1 surround sound home theater that includes a DVD player that upconverts to full 1080p.

The HT-SP908 system uses the Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver that processes HD video and audio. The receiver includes two HDMI v1.3 inputs and one output and uses DeepColor technology. Read more

Onkyo Introduces the DV-HD805 HD DVD Player

Since Onkyo is a high-end maker of electronics, you probably won’t be surprised to hear that the Onkyo DV-HD805 will sell for $900. Set to be available this fall, the player has an Ethernet port for connecting online for extra features.

HDMI 1.3 is included and the player supports 24 fps 1080p video, Deep color, and Dolby TrueHD as well as DTS-HD Master Audio bitstream passthrough. Read more

Onkyo HT-SR800 7.1 Surround system in a Box w/ HDMI Pass Through

As cool as the other two low cost home theater in a box systems we talked about a bit ago are, the Onkyo HT-SR800 is definitely the product for home theater lovers on a budget. Unlike the other two systems which were 5.1 surround capable, the HT-SR800 is a full 7.1 surround system with 110w per channel. Other notable features are that the receiver is both XM and Sirius satellite radio ready and has Audyssey 2EQ/HTiB calibration.

The receiver uses HDMI pass-through switching, processing and amplification for multi channel audio formats. Onkyo Launches New Affordable Home Theater Systems

Those familiar with the name Onkyo think high end when they hear the name, and they are right. Typically Onkyo is associated with home theater products costing thousands of dollars. Today Onkyo is launching a new line of home theater in a box system consisting of two products that are affordable, I’m talking as low cost as some of the junk you find at Wal-Mart.

The two systems are the HT-SR600 and the HT-SR700 which are both 5.1 surround sound systems. Each system uses a powerful sub woofer and a set of tonally matched two-way satellite speakers along with a high power multi-channel A/V receiver complete with component video switching and complete surround sound processing.

Connectivity wise both systems have three component video inputs and one output able to switch 1080i/720p HD video sources without picture degradation. There are also three A/V inputs and two outputs with component and S-video connections plus three optical and one coaxial digital audio input. Read more
