Bullguard and SteelSeries Announce PC Security for Gamers
According to security software maker Bullguard about 20% of gamers don’t use Pc security of any kind. To address the needs for security among gamers, Bullguard announced its Gamers' Edition software.
The software doesn’t require lots of resources and when placed in game profile the user gets no firewall or update messages while playing. The software provides full antivirus, antispyware, and firewall. Pricing for the software is EUR49.99 for a year's subscription. Read more

Lenovo A Series Desktop PC for Businesses
Lenovo has announced a new A series ThinkCenter desktop line aimed at businesses. A variety of models are available with different features. Some models take advantage of ATI hybrid CrossFireX graphics and offer DisplayPort support optionally with an add-in card.
All computers in the series include a 15-month stability warranty. Dash 1.1. Express repair, and environmental certifications. The ThinkCenter A62 starts at $399 without a display and the series will be available starting in September. The 19-inch A-series LCD retails for $239. Read more

Tiny Cube PC gets reviewed
A little PC Cube from Japan made some waves again as it got reviewed by UK's PC Pro. We reported about the T-Cube the first time back in 2004. It is surprising that it did not get smaller since then. Time has stood still for the tiny cube, at least regarding its measurements.
The Space Cube as it is called in this version runs Linux.

Tangent Evergreen 17 Green Touch Screen PC
Tangent introduced a new green computer called the Evergreen 17. The system is a slim, all-in-one design that uses a touch screen and has very low power requirements. The system uses a Via Eden 1.0GHz CPU that requires no fan.
It can also be optioned with a faster ViaC7 1.50GHz CPU with a low noise fan. The Evergreen 17 runs on Windows XP Pro or Windows XP Embedded. A Linux version is also available. The computer can be ordered with SSDs from 1GB to 64GB of storage capacity. Normal HDDs with 60GB to 250GB are available as well. The system starts at $1195. Read more

iViZ Announces New Class of PC Vulnerability
According to iViZ, encrypting a hard drive is no longer enough protection. The firm says that it discovered a new class of vulnerability at Defcon 16 security conference that allows hackers to steal boot passwords and bypass the security of pre-boot authentication software.
The vulnerability allows hackers to bypass encryption software. iViz says that it has already briefed vendors like Microsoft, Intel, and HP on the vulnerability. Read more

Albatron Tee PC mini Tablet unveiled
Taiwanese Albatron unveiled the Tee PC, a mini tablet netbook. The Tee PC is closer to a PDA (remember PDAs? Personal Digital Assistants, they got killed by smartphones) as it runs Windows CE 6.0 than the current wave of XP or Linux sporting netbooks.
The Tee PC measures 188x113x13mm and weighs 343g. Other features of the Windows CE netbook include 400MHz ARM926, 7 inch screen with 800x480px resolution, 128MB RAM, 128MB NAND, Wifi, Bluetooth and 0.3/1.3MP camera.

The Lian Li PC-XB01 Xbox 360 Chassis Replacement features black, hairline brushed anodized aluminum material, Sound dampening foam and silent fan.
The PC-XB01 is 160 x 250 x 415mm (W, D, H), giving lots of space for copious cool airflow. The 120mm (1500RPM) rear fan draws off the heat from inside the case effectively and silently, while the ODD region is encased in stylized foam to reduce noise experienced from spinning disks in standard units.

Rockstar Games Brings Grand Theft Auto IV to PC
PC gamers that are fans of the Grand theft Auto franchise will be glad to hear that Rockstar has announced GTA IV is coming to the PC on November 18th in the US and November 21st in Europe.
GTA IV is set in Liberty City and Rockstar says that this time around the city was painstakingly created to be very life like. Rockstar also says that it has added a new multiplayer mode just for the PC. Details on the multiplayer mode are scant at the moment. Read more

Asus S101 not an Eee PC and actually targets MacBook Air
A week ago an Asus Eee Roadmap was leaked that showed a new S101 and S91 netbook in the Ultimate segment. At an event in Taiwan Asus' CEO showed off productions samples of the Asus S101 and revealed that Asus will go to market with the Asus S101 without the Eee PC moniker.
They rather target the premium lightweight notebook sector with the S101. The Asus S101 is 16-21mm thin and Asus actually set its eyes on competing with Apple's Macbook Air.

TDK to acquire EPCOS
TDK announces to acquire EPCOS, a manufacturer of electronic components, modules and systems headquartered in Germany.
TDK will launch a public tender offer for all outstanding shares of EPCOS and will offer EPCOS' shareholders EUR 17.85 in cash per share.
The purpose of the agreement is to combine EPCOS with TDK’s activities in the electronic components field. The combination will create an industry-leading electronic components company with a strong presence across customer sectors and regions. The BCA contains the basis of the partnership and the roadmap for its implementation.

Ultimate Asus Eee PC and Pro Fashion Asus Eee PC Netbooks confirmed
Yesterday we reported about a leaked Asus Eee PC Roadmap that contained tons of new Asus Eee PC models split in three categories Smart Casual, Pro Fashion, and Ultimate. The currently available Asus Eee PC netbooks are in the Smart Casual Category.
Digitimes has now received word directly from Asus President Jerry Shen that Asus is going higher end with the Asus Eee PC with new Eee PCs in the Pro Fashion and Ultimate category.

MoGo Presenter Mouse PC Announced
The Newton Peripherals Mogo Presenter Mouse has been on the market for a while now. The mouse is a Bluetooth device that requires no dongle to connect with a computer. The main feature of previous MoGo mice was the ability to store and charge inside an ExpressCard slot.
The ExpressCard slot being required meant that owners of notebooks lacking the slot could not use the unique mouse. A new MoGo Presenter Mouse PC was introduced this week that has the same features as previous MoGo mice including Bluetooth and the ability to control PowerPoint presentations. The difference is that the new mouse can store in a PCMCIA slot. Read more

EA Announces Free Downloadable Mass Effect Content for PC
After a long wait, EA has finally announced that the free downloadable content for Mass Effect called "Bring Down the Sky" is now available for PC users. This is the first downloadable content for the PC version to be offered.
EA says that the download adds 90 minutes of new gameplay to Mass Effect and adds a new uncharted world. The story starts as Batarian's have captured a mobile asteroid station and set it on a collision course with a colony world. Read more

Dell Announces Inspiron 518 and Studio Hybrid PC
Dell is gearing up for back to school with the announcement of a pair of new computers that have interesting features. The Inspiron 518 looks cool with a glossy black case with chrome trim. The system has a media tray on top with a pair of USB ports for docking MP3 players. The starting price for the 518 is only $349.
Dell also introduced a new Inspiron 13 Laptop aimed at shoppers looking for a small, light, and efficient notebook. The 13 Laptop is glossy pacific blue with black trim and has a 13-inch display with capacitive touch media buttons. Other features include an 8-in-1 media card reader, slot load DVD drive and optional wireless networking, webcam, and Bluetooth. The notebook will be available at Wal-Mart in early August starting at $699. Read more
