LG T-54 DMB TV and PMP now in funky Colors

LG introduces new colors of their quite neat T54 DMB TV and PMP.

LG introduced the new colors with street culture marketing event in Korea. The names of the colors reflect that angle. The new colors are Jazz Blue, Funky Green, Reggae Orange and Techno Black.

Wolverine ESP 250GB PMP Storage Device

Wolverine announced a storage/multimedia player today with a 250GB storage capacity. The device has a 250GB HDD, 3.6-inch TFT LCD and measures in at 5.3” x 2.8” x 0.9” and weighs 10.2 ounces.

Those are some pretty small dimensions for a gadget that has so much storage space crammed inside. Other features include a FM tuner and a 7-in-1 card reader that allows storage of photos from digital cameras while on the go. The card reader is compatible with CF, SD & SDHC, MMC, MS, MS-Pro, and XD. Read more

New viliv X2 AIO PMP

The last new PMP Korean viliv introduced was the P2 in 2006. Today they announced the new X2 A.I.O. PMP in Korea.

The viliv X2 has pretty much the same design as the P2, which is not necessarily a bad thing, as the P2 looks nice.
viliv packed a GPS receiver and DMB TV receiver into the X2 . The portable media player comes with either a 30GB or 60GB hard-drive. The 4.3 inch LCD screen is made by Samsung.

Other features of the viliv X2 AIO include an FM transmitter, AMD AU1250 (600MHz) CPU, mp3 player, video player and dictionary. Read more

digitalCube S-Station NetForce 2 PMP has HSDPA Connectivity

Korean digitalCube announces a portable media player with HSDPA connectivity. This is supposed to be the first PMP with HSDPA connectivity. Of course there are UMPCs or smartphones with PMP functionality that also have HSDPA.

The s-Station NetForce 2 features a 4.3 inch screen with a resolution of 800x480px. An Alchemy 1250 CPU and a 5,000mAh power this new PMP.

The s-Station NF 2 comes with either a 30GB or 60GB hard-drive. Besides HSDPA the NF 2 also has a Wifi connection. Read more

Samsung YP-P2 PMP Looks Like a Chip off the Old Apple

Samsung has a sweet looking new PMP that reminds me a bit of the lovechild of the iPhone and Prada phone. We have the black color of the Prada phone with the color screen of the iPhone.

There is no doubt that the Samsung YP-P2 is one of the nicest looking PMP devices I have seen in a long time. Other than the PMP looks great not that much is known about it. The images I have seen show Bluetooth, an FM tuner, video capability and a file browser. Read more

iRiver reveals P10 PMP Prototype

iRiver revealed the fourth new product this week on their site. The last one is the iRiver P10.

The P10 seems just to be at a prototype stage. There are no feature details. iRiver just highlights the small dimensions of this stylish portable media player.

At this point we do not know when iRiver is actually releasing their new devices. The definitely put some pressure on their competitors in terms of sexy design and advanced functionality. Read more

Cowon announces in Korea a new all-in-one portable device dubbed the Cowon L2.

The Cowon L2 features a 7 inch screen and combines media player, GPS and DMB TV functionality into one sleek device. Supported formats of the media player include MP4, MP3, WMA and WAV. The photo viewer of the Cowon L2 supports BMP, JPG and PNG.

The L2 has 2GB internal memory that can be expanded via a SD card slot. The GPS functionality is provided by a SiRF III chipset. Read more

Toshiba Gigabeat V801 and V401 PMPs

Toshiba announces the Gigabeat V401 and Gigabeat V801 portable media player.

The Toshiba Gigabeat V801 has a 80GB HDD and the V401 comes with a 40GB hard-drive. Both new Toshiba Gigabeat players feature a 4 inch QVGA color screen.
With the new H2C technology the sound is supposed to be improved by adding back frequencies that are lost during compression of WMA and MP3 files. Read more

New Sony PMX-U50 PMP

Sony introduces another PMP in China dubbed PMX-U50. We reported already earlier about the neat 4.3 inch Sony PMX-M70 PMP.

The Sony PMX-U50 actually is in the same form factor and shares design elements of the 2003 introduced Sony PCVA-HVP20.
Sony's Shanghai based design team for the PMX-U50 gave the PMX-U50 a slim contour and a 2.4 inch screen.
Features of the PMX-U50 include MP4 video support, MP3 and WMA music file support, FM tuner, voice recorder, FM radio recorder, built-in speakers, clock, calendar and equalizer. Read more

Tiny Epoq EMP-FT804 PMP plays AVI

Yesterday we reported about the new fashionable Epoq MP4 Watch. Today we got information about a small PMP Epoq is making dubbed EMP-FT804.

The Epoq EMP-FT804 features a 2.2 inch color screen and has touch sensitive buttons that light up reminding on LG's Chocolate interface look.

On interesting detail of this PMP is that it plays directly AVI file format. Most other PMPs in this category require you to convert the videos to the obscure NXV format.

The compact PMP measures 73.2 x 43.6 x 10mm and packs features like MP3 and WMA audio file playback, FM Tuner, voice recorder, photo viewer, built-in speaker, lyrics display, upgradeable firmware and miniSD card slot. Read more

Korean PMP Makers embrace User Created Content

Korean portable media player makers like ReignCom, Cowon strike deals with video sharing sites to bring User Created Content (UCC) directly onto their players.

ReignCom (iRiver) is working on a file downloading service in cooperation with Korean UCC site Mncast. The iRiver Plus 3 program will automatically transform UCC files into ones suitable for portable devices.

Low-cost Sun Connection PMP features 2.4 inch Screen and 1.3MP Camera

Sun Connection offers in Japan a neat low-cost PMP dubbed SC-VP200SD.

The SC-VP200SD flash memory media player features a 2.4 inch color screen with 480x320px resolution, 1.3MP camera with Flash, MP3 music player, MP4 video player, 128MB built-in memory and SD memory card slot.

Sun Connection offers the SC-VP200SD for 12,800 Yen, which is about $100 USD. Sure this PMP only has 128MB, but the feature-set is impressive.
