Palm Answers Your Questions About Pixi Today on Twitter
The new Palm Pixi launches on Sprint on November 15th for $99.99 with 2-yr contract (after rebate).
The Palm Pixi sounds at first like a great deal. You get the new Palm webOS and the Palm Synergy features on a compact and thin phone with message phone style QWERTY keyboard. The biggest downer on the Pixi for me is the lack of Wi-fi. If you have burning questions about the upcoming Palm Pixi, like why there is no wifi on the Pixi you can ask them today on Twitter.

Palm Pixi Available November 15
The day has come, Palm fans; the Palm Pixi is available for pre-order. If everything goes as planned, the Pixi will be on sale for Sprint customers on November 15 for just $99.99. That price point pits the Pixi against the iPhone 3G, the current king of the middle-range smartphone.
In terms of hardware, the Pixi gets you a lot of bang for your buck. It runs Palm's webOS platform, and has a 2.63" multitouch display. It launches with Push support for email, a GPS, a 2 MP digital camera, accelerometer, ambient light, and proximity sensors. The Pixi has 8GB of internal storage, and a 3.5 MM headphone jack.

Verizon Re-Confirms Palm Pre
The saga of the Palm Pre and Verizon has been long and confusing. After rumors of Verizon denial and months of waiting, we have confirmation from Big Red itself that the Pre is coming to town. And this is the sort of confirmation that doesn't just rely on advertising leaks and inventory screenshots. Verizon's Twitter feed, VZWOffers (via Boy Genius) told us almost everything we needed to know.

Palm Announces Developer Program to Launch in December
Palm announced that it would officially open its doors for the Palm webOS developers program starting in December. The program will allow developers to control how their applications are brought to market with transparency that gives the control to promote their business.
Palm announced in August that developers who wanted to offer paid apps for webOS devices could start submitting them for approval as part of an ecommerce beta program. The company will split profits from apps 70/30 for gross revenue after applicable taxes. The developer network will require a $99 annual fee and there will be two options. Read more

Why Palm Wants To Play Chicken
So, Palm's re-enabled iTunes syncing after all. This marks the second time that Palm has fixed syncing since the release of the Pre. Now the ball is in Apple's court as we wait to see if they will respond with another patch, or a barrage of legal threats.
Apple is a huge company with virtually unlimited cash reserves, a fanatically loyal fan base, and a cadre of the best lawyers in the world. Palm, on the other hand, has been ailing for several years. The Pre hasn't sold nearly well enough to bring them back to where they were during their PDA heyday. The conflict between these two companies could almost be a modern day David and Goliath story, that's certainly how Palm wants the world to see it.

New Palm Pre webOS 1.2.1 Fixes Apple iTunes Sync Again
Palm just released webOS 1.2.0 last week. Today Palm released webOS 1.2.1 that fixes both problems syncing your EAS email and media sync with the latest iTunes release (as already rumored over a week ago).
I did not expect Palm to continue this little war with Apple. Besides sync with iTunes 9.0.1 Palm also fixed photo album structure and added a new option to sync photos without full resolution originals.

Palm Pixi: Not Out October 20?
Earlier today we reported on rumors that the Palm Pre would be out later this month, on October 20th. However, Engadget disagrees with this rumor. They claim that undisclosed sources in a position to know state that the Pixi will not be out on the 20th.

Palm Pixi Rumored To Launch October 20th
The new Palm webOS device the Palm Pixi is supposed to launch on October 20th according to sources of BoyGenius.
The open question is still at what price Sprint is going to offer the Palm Pixi. I only can see free as the only reason to get the Palm Pixi. The Palm Pre is already offered at below $100 on Amazon.com.

Palm Pre webOS 1.2.0 Update Released
Palm released the new webOS 1.2.0 update with several improvements and bug fixes.
The new features of webOS 1.2.0 include LinkedIn contact syncing with Palm Synergy, support for heterogeneous EAS policies, Email Keyword filter, file download in browser, Amazon MP3 Store access via Wifi and 3G, podcast pause and resume and app purchasing. There is no word on if the new webOS 1.2.0 will give you back your iTunes syncing. My guess is that it is never coming back again.

Verizon Wireless WILL Sell The Palm Pre
After stock-dropping rumors that Verizon decided to dump the Pre and a terse assertion from Palm that their smartphone would be heading to "new carriers" in 2010, we have confirmation from Boy Genius that the Pre will, in fact, be sold on Verizon's network.
Verizon still has not commented one way or the other on these rumors, and Palm did not address directly which carriers would get to host the Pre. That said, the CEO of Verizon himself has openly expressed his plans to carry the webOS smartphone in the past, and Big Red is in dire need of some variety in their smartphone offerings.

Palm Reiterates: Pre Coming To New Carriers in 2010
After (likely erroneous) reports this morning that Verizon was dropping the Palm Pre, Palm Inc. has released a statement that they will be working with "additional wireless carriers" (thanks, Bloomberg) in 2010. Palm refused to say whether or not this announcement was in response to the rumors, but it's fairly obvious that they were.

Palm webOS 1.2.1 Will Fix iTunes Sync?
Pre owners, we have some bad news and some good news. PreCentral.net is reporting that an anonymous tipster has informed them that webOS 1.2.1 could end up delayed until next week. They claim this delay is due to Sprint wanting to test the changes involving the App Catalog in more detail. A second delay for 1.2.1 is a bit of an annoyance, but it comes with a silver lining.
PreCentral's tipster has told them that 1.2.1 will re-enable iTunes syncing for the Palm Pre. This is sure to agitate the already touchy situation between Palm and Apple, who has disabled Pre syncing twice so far. As soon as this patch hits, Pre owners, you'd best sync your phones up with iTunes before Apple can disable them again.

Verizon Declines The Palm Pre?
The smartphone world received a shock today when news broke that Verizon Wireless might not be adopting the Palm Pre after all. TheStreet.com states that "people close to the discussions" told them that Verizon has decided not to support the Pre. This is great news for Sprint, the Pre's current U.S. carrier, but very bad news for Palm, who desperately needs a larger market if they want any hope of crossing the million sold mark.
Up until now, Verizon seemed quite eager to get at the Palm Pre. Back in May, Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam even stated that his company intended to roll out the Pre within six months. What's caused this rapid change of mood? If TheStreet is correct, the Pre's less-than-impressive sales weren't the only reason.

Palm Pre On Sale For $99.99 On Amazon With Contract
If you have considered to get a Palm Pre than now is a great time. Amazon is having it on sale for $99.99 with Sprint contract.
I still consider the Palm Pre the more interesting choice compared to the upcoming Palm Pixi. The Pixi has no Wifi, which makes it a no go for many.

Palm Announced Quarterly Earnings Without Specific Palm Pre Sales Numbers
Palm announced their earnings for the past quarter, which is their first quarter of fiscal year 2010 ending August 28th.
The total revenues have been $68m resulting in gross profit of $2.8m. These results include the effects of subscription accounting applied to Palm webOS products as required by GAAP. In accordance with this methodology, revenues and direct cost of revenues for Palm webOS products (currently Palm Pre smartphone) are deferred and recognized over the product's estimated economic life.

iTunes 9 Kills Palm Pre Syncing
When the Palm Pre first hit stores, it came with the ability to sync up with iTunes. The Pre identified itself as an iPod mass storage device, so iTunes recognized it and let it in. Apple was not happy about this, and they fired back in July by breaking the Pre's ability to sync in a patch. Palm didn't take this standing down, and fixed syncing in webOS 1.1. For the last few months, the Pre has remained able to sync and Apple has only been able to stew about it.
That all changed yesterday. Apple released iTunes version 9 and, according to AppleInsider, it broke the Pre's ability to sync once more. Palm fans needn't fret, though. The webOS 1.2 update, which should have been announced earlier this week, was delayed for some reason. More than likely so that Palm would be able to respond to any moves Apple made.

New Palm webOS 1.2 Features Found
It appears that Palm's latest version of webOS has leaked, and now the bloggers have descended upon it to pick out every last scrap of useful information. Boy Genius states that several new features of webOS 1.2 have already been uncovered, chief among them being support for paid applications. The Pre's app selection is notoriously weak, so allowing developers to submit paid apps is a very necessary step.
Unfortunately, Palm's app process appears to be following in the footsteps of Apple a little too closely. Buried within the code for 1.2 is the sentence, “Palm had to delete this application from the App Catalog and your device. If you paid for this app, your money will be refunded.”
