Toshiba announced today that it has added the Intel 45nm processors to its Satellite X205-SLI notebook computer. The X205 still uses a pair of NVIDIA 8600M GT graphics cards in SLI and has optional dual hard drives.

The hard drives are full 7200 rpm units for faster access time. The notebook also incorporates Toshiba’s HD DVD drive for watching HD movies. Buyers can also get five free HD DVD films with the purchase of the X205-SLI notebook. Read more

Intel says to expect performance increases of about 15% for image related applications, 25% for 3D rendering, more than 40% increase in video encoding speed and a whopping 40% increase in gaming performance from Penryn.

These indicators are based on a pre-production 45nm Hi-k Intel quad core processor running 3.33 GHz with a 1333MHz FSB vs. the beastly Intel QX6800 Extreme Core 2 Processor introduced last week running at 2.93 GHz with a 1066MHz FSB. Read more
