LG.Philips shows Multi-touch Screen and Triple View Display at IMID 2007
At the IMID 2007 in Korea LG.Philips shows a 47 inch multi-touch display and a triple-view display solution.
Since the introduction of the Apple iPhone multi-touch displays are the new hype. A 47 inch multi-touch display can be used with both hands, which I imagine will be very engaging.

Hands on with Philips amBX System
The first time I heard about Philips’ amBX system it was a large home theater product that would use your home lighting, heat and AC unit to match your environment to that of the film.
Yesterday at Quakeconn Philips was showing off a much smaller PC gamer aimed amBX system that added lots of dimension to PC games. Naturally with it being Quakeconn, the game that Philips was showing the system on was Quake 4.
The amBX system will be available in a few different kits, that retail at different price points. The biggest kit will go for about $500 and includes four amBX speakers, four fans, and a rumble. The Philips crew called the sub a rumble, because it’s more a transducer to allow you to feel explosions and hits rather than simply to add bass to your game. Read more

Philips Cellphone Supports AAA Battery Use
Philips has a new cell phone called the Xenium NRG that promises to extend our talk time by use of the ubiquitous and readily available AAA battery. Philips says that by slipping one AAA into the phone you can extend talk time up to three hours.
AAA batteries are not the primary power source for the Xenium (sounds more like an Intel CPU than a cell phone) but rather the primary power is a standard rechargeable cell we typically see in phones. The AAA slot is for backup in case you go dead while out and about since AAA batteries are available in just about every store around. Read more

Philips announces Ambisound HTS8100 at CES
Philips announces a stylish sound projector named in relation to their Ambilight flatscreen TV feature Ambisound.
The Ambisound HTS8100 is featuring Philips’ proprietary Ambisound technology. The HTS8100 SoundBar creates a full 5.1 surround sound experience through a one-piece fully integrated home theater system.
This is what the Yamaha YSP series already does since a couple of years. I still like my YSP-1000. Scifi apparently already heard a HTS8100 and does not like it that much.

Philips Bodygroom Shaves Everywhere, and They Mean Everywhere
Philips has a new product called the Body Groom that has a webmercial that made me laugh my arse off. You have to hop over to the site and watch it. I will admit that I don’t get the need for guys to shave “everywhere”. Then maybe it’s because I’m from Texas where the guys are manly and hairy, and for that matter some of the women are too.
At any rate, if like Dr. Evil you find a shorn scrotum quite breathtaking, this is the holiday gift for you. Just trust me you have to check out the website for this thing. I think I went to college with that guy. Read more

Philips made 1 Million Ambilight TVs
The Ambilight idea seems to pay off really well for Philips. This week the millionth Ambilight Flat TV left the Philips plant according to DigiTimes.
The adaptive light behind the Plamsa TV has its merits. I actually tried the IKEA solution to replicate a simply ambilight on my Panasonic Plasma . It is not bad actually.
IKEA sells the TRETTIONEN lighting strip which comes in white, blue or green colors. One set has 4 strips and sells for $49.99.
I just wrapped around the cables and placed two diode strips on top and one on each side behind the Plasma panel. I did not install them on the bottom as I have the speakers of the TV there and I would need a second TRETTIONEN set.

Philips SRU9600 Touch Screen Universal Remote Review
The good news up front: the Philips SRU9600 is a really easy to use universal remote that is stylish too.
Quote:
"Philips announced the stylish and sleek SRU9600 LCD touch screen universal remote in February 2006. The 8-in-1 universal remote control hit stores recently.
Philips actually had sent me the RC9800i universal touch screen remote a long time ago for review. I never got to review it because the stylus driven remote did not appeal to me and it did not feel intuitive. This experience made me skeptical of the new SRU9600, but I was pleasantly surprised.
