Verizon To Offer Prepaid Wireless Service For Laptops
Folks who want the option of having mobile wireless broadband access without the cost or commitment of signing up for a contract now have a new option. CNet reports that Verizon will soon begin to offer prepaid wireless services. These new services will come bundled with a VZW USB760 and will be available for laptops running Windows, Mac, or Linux.
One day of pre-paid access will cost you $15 and get you up to 75 MB of data. That's enough for a fair amount of browsing, but if you need more there'll also be a weekly plan available for $30. That one comes with a 250 MB data allotment. The largest prepaid option is the monthy plan, which costs $50 and gives you 500 MB of data.

Trumpet Mobile and RadioShack Corporation today announced the nationwide availability of Trumpet Mobile's prepaid wireless services at more than 4,300 RadioShack neighborhood locations.
Trumpet Mobile offers an interesting value added service with mobile money transfer. Subscribers can make Western Union money transfers within the U.S. and to Latin America and the Caribbean from their mobile phones.

BlackBerry Prepaid Option Announced
Alcatel-Lucent announced a new plan today to bring a prepaid option to wireless operators for the BlackBerry platform. The prepaid solution would be customized for BlackBerry smartphones and would be a real-time volume based charging solution that integrates with existing networks.
"We are proud of the work that has been done in partnership with Alcatel-Lucent to bring the BlackBerry solution to new markets and we look forward to expanding this relationship," said Jim Balsillie, Co-Chief Executive Officer at Research In Motion. Mobile Prepaid Discounter Net10 on the Start in the US
Always 10c per minute, for local, long distance and roaming calls nationwide - sound sweet and easy.
Mobile prepaid discounters are set to mix-up the mobile phone carriers. In Germany Simyo just reported today that they already have 100,000 customers since it started in May. The success is understandable. Simyo offers just one low rate, people are just sick of different rates throughout the day or based on where they are or who they call.
Net10 started a couple days ago in the United States with a flat 10c per minute rate. They offer two Nokia (Refurbished Nokia 1100 sells for $29.99) and two Motorola phone which have rapid refill installed, that allows customers to add airtime directly from the handset. Voicemail and text messaging (5c/sms) are also featured.
