Nintendo Wii Price Cuts Confirmed? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Since the release of the PS3 Slim, we've been waiting to see how the other console manufacturers will respond to Sony's price cut. Microsoft countered by discounting their Xbox 360 Elite. We've long expected to hear of price cuts from Nintendo's corner, and even heard a slew of rumors to that effect. Now the folks at Nintendojo claim that they have received confirmation of the price cuts directly from Nintendo.

They claim that, during a retailer conference call, Nintendo announced a $50 price cut in the Wii, effective September 27th. Unfortunately, their claims are impossible to verify at this point. We don't have any independent confirmation of this rumor, but the slew of leaked catalog images certainly lend it some credence.

Sony PS3 Price Cuts Coming? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

It's a hard time for the gaming industry right now. Console sales are in virtual freefall, and revenues have dropped sharply for all of the big manufacturers. Sony has been hit especially hard, since their losses started several months ago. There was a great deal of pre-E3 speculation that Sony would announce price cuts for the PS3, but those failed to materialize.

However, this article from Gizmodo makes me think that those price cuts may be coming down the pipe after all. During a conference call Sony CEO Nobuyuki Oneda announced that the PS3 was now 70% cheaper to manufacture than it had been at launch. This means that Sony can afford to drop the price substantially without becoming unprofitable.

T-Mobile Price Cuts: Christmas in June Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

You know what I hate? Mail in rebates. Mailing them in isn't much of a hassle, but waiting weeks and weeks to get your check is a pain in the ass. We all know why companies do it, everyone who is too lazy to mail in a rebate means more profit for them. That doesn't stop it from being irritating as hell for those of us who are motivated to save money.

Well T-Mobile has heard our cries of annoyance, and they've removed all their mail-in rebates as a result. Now a whole bunch of their hottest phones are more affordable than ever, and you don't even have to go hunting for stamps. Here's an updated price-list;
