Canon Announces Two New Large Format Printers

Canon announced a pair of new large format printers today called the imagePROGRAF iPF9100 and iPF8100. Both printers use Canon’s twelve-color ink system with LUCIA pigments including four monochrome inks.

The iPF9100 can print 60-inch wide images and the iPF8100 prints 44-inch wide images. Both printers also support Kyuanos color management technology. The reformulated inks prevent bronzing of colors that happens when viewing at angles. Read more

HP launches $300 mln Ad Campaign to boost Printers

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Hewlett-Packard Co said on Monday it is launching a $300 million marketing campaign to promote Web-based printing services as it seeks new uses for printers, the company's most-profitable business.

The campaign, involving traditional media, outdoor ads and online content, begins on Tuesday and promotes HP's "Print 2.0" effort announced in May. This aims to more closely tie printing to the Web as printer use changes quickly in the digital age.

"As more and more content moves from the desktop to the Web, HP is working to make printing relevant and meaningful," the company said in a statement. Read more

Lexmark Announces Three New Wireless Printers X6570, X7550, and the X4850

I’m not sure what the deal is with all the new printer announcements this week, but Lexmark is getting in on the action as well. The three new printers Lexmark is announcing are the X6570, X7550, and X4850 all-in-one printers.

All three of these printers feature Lexmark wireless technology that allows you to print wirelessly from notebook computers. Users can also scan, fax, and use the media card reader wirelessly as well. Read more

Canon Introduces Two Photo Printers, the PIXMA iP4500 and iP3500

In addition to the other Canon new product announcements today, Canon also announced a pair of photo printers called the PIXMA iP4500 and the PIXMA iP3500. The iP4500 has 9600 x 2400 dpi print resolution and uses five smart LED equipped ink tanks in a new print head called the Canon FINE print head.

The printer can out 31ppm in black and 24 ppm in color. The time to print a 4 x 6 color photo is 21 seconds. The printer also has built-in duplexing for double sided prints and documents. The MSRP for the iP4500 is $129.99. Read more

Canon Announces PIXMA MP970, MP 610, and MP520 All-in-One Photo Printers

Canon also announced today a trio of new all-in-one photo printers. The first printer is the PIXMA MP970 Photo All-in-One. The MP970 has a maximum print resolution on 9600 x 2400 dpi and uses seven ink tanks for premium photo prints. The printer also has a 3.5” LCD, prints double sided standard and has an Ethernet connector. The scanner has a 4800 x 9600 dpi resolution and can scan slides as well as negatives. The scanner also uses white LEDs rather than fluorescent light so warm up time is significantly reduced. The MSRP is $299.99 for the MP970.

The PIXMA MP610 all-in-one has a 9600 x 2400 dpi print resolution and uses five ink tanks. The screen on this printer is 2.5” and 4 x 6 print time is claimed to be 21 seconds. Editing options include auto image fix, quick start, duplex printing, and advanced copy technology. The MSRP for the MP610 is $199.99. Read more

Canon Introduces PIXMA MX700, MX310, and MX300 All-in-One Printers

Canon is on a new product release blitz today with cameras, scanners and now printers. Canon announced three new all-in-one printers called the PIXMA MX700, MX310, and MX300. The MX700 offers a maximum print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi and uses four individual ink tanks. Print speeds are claimed to be up to 30ppm in black and 20 ppm in color.

The MX700 also has Ethernet capabilities to allow you to connect the printer directly to your home or office network. Canon's Quick Start capability allows use of the printer in seconds rather than the minutes some printers need to warm up. A 30 page auto feeder allows you to scan or copy multiple documents without having to stand by the printer. The 30-page feeder also comes in handy for faxing multiple pages with the built-in fax modem. The MX700 will retail for $199.99. Read more

Epson Launches Three New Printers

Epson officially launched three new printers today with different features and price points. The first printer is the Epson CX9400Fax which copies, scans, faxes, and prints. The built-in fax modem is a 33.6 Kbps unit and the printer has a built-in 30-page document feeder. The best part is that the printer only costs $149.

The Epson CX8400 retails for under $100 and offers print speeds on black documents of 32 ppm and can print borderless 4x6 prints in 26 seconds. The printer also has a 2.5” LCD display for viewing and printing photos without a PC. Read more

Canon launches MF4270 Multi-function Laser Printer

Today Canon announced a new multi-function laser printer that has a low price considering the options. The MF4270 laser multifunction printer will print directly from a PC and do full duplex printing for incoming faxes and copy letter-size documents.

The printer uses a 35-sheet auto feeder so you can put large faxes in the tray and walk away from the printer. The monochrome laser can print up to 21 pages per minute for letter-sized output. Print resolution is 1200 x 600 dpi and the printer can scan in 24-bit color with an interpolated resolution of 9600 dpi. Read more

FujiFilm Commercial Inkjet Printers and Ink Coming

FujiFilm announces to enter the inkjet printer market starting this month.

The British FUJIFILM Sericol Ltd. subsidiary will manufacture ink cartridges that are compatible with UV ink and solvent ink. The hardware side is supplied by OEMs.
