Toshiba Slim Projector with Closed Captioning Announced
Toshiba announced a new projector today called the TLP-X100U that is only 4-pounds and uses 3LCD technology. The projector is under 3-inches high and offers a bright image. The entire projector is about the size of a hardback novel.
The device is compatible with closed captioning from DVD or TV and has a blackboard function that allows it to be projected onto dark backgrounds. The resolution is 1024 x 768 and it has a brightness of 2200 lumens. It can project a screen size of 30 to 300-inches from 2.9 to 35.9 feet. It supports resolutions up to 1080p. Aiptek Pocket Cinema V10 tiny LED Projector already ships
Aiptek unveiled the Pocket Cinema V10 LED projector about the size of a mobile phone.
The Aiptek Pocket Cinema V10 already ships in Germany for 299 EUR (~$437). Measurements of the Aiptek V10 are only 125x55x23mm and it can project video with VGA resolution up to 50 inch in size.
With the integrated 1GB of storage and the SD card slot you can just appear at meeting with the Aiptek V10 and dazzle your audience with the tiny projector gadget.

Epson Unveils THE-DM2 All-in-One Projector
Epson announced its latest all-in-one projector called the EH-DM2 today. The projector combines a DVD player with DivX capability and a surround sound speaker system into a portable package. The projector has a pair of 8W speakers built-in.
The brightness of the projector is 1200 lumens and the projector is HD compatible. Input choices for the projector include PC, USB, DVD, TV, cameras and MP3 players. The projector has a USB slot for viewing images on a big screen. Pricing for the projector is under €600 with VAT and the projector will be available in September. Read more

Delta Unveils First LED Backlit Projector
Delta Electronics has unveiled the development of a fully LED backlit projector for the consumer market. The projector uses Delta's high throughput LED optics and can display full 1080p resolution. The image quality promises to be higher than other projectors on the market.
The big benefit of using LEDs is the lamp life -- 20000 with normal operation. The projector uses DLP technology and is being shown for the first time at IFA in Berlin. It is unknown when the projector will be available for purchase and what the price will be. Read more

Epson Announces EH-TW420 Projector
Epson has announced a new home theater projector called the EH-TW420. Epson calls the projector an affordable HD projector for the home. The unit has 2000 lumens of brightness, built-in speakers and more.
The resolution is 720p and input options include HDMI, USB, SD card, and S-video. Epson 3LCD technology is used in the projector for bright picture and better color. Different color modes are included for different uses from movies to gaming. The projector will be available in September for under <€ 800 in Europe. Read more

Projectiondesign Launches High-end Home Theater Projectors
Projectordesign announced its new avielo series premium home theater projectors at the CEDIA EXPO. The projectors were all designed to be high-end for home theater aficionados. The series uses Philips UHP VIDI lamp technology and projectordesign's exclusive RealColor color management suite.
The line also uses 10-bit processing and features HDMI 1.3 interconnectivity. Each of the projectors has hand-selected optics and calibrated at the factory. The spectra has a 1920 x 1080 native resolution and is suitable for screen sizes up to 120-inch. The optix has the same full 1080p resolution and can be used on screen sizes up to 180-inch. Toshiba Launches TLP-XE30U Projector
Toshiba announced a new portable projector called the TLP-XE30U that takes advantage of 3LCD technology and offers Blackboard functionality. The projector has 3000 ANSI lumens and retails for $1119.
The blackboard function allows presentations to be made on non-screen surfaces like a painted wall or blackboard. The projector also features quick shutdown and no cool down time is required before it can be unplugged. The native resolution is 1024 x 768 and it can reproduce 16.7 million colors. Inputs include S-video, RCA, and D-sub. Read more

First Projector Mobile Phone Epoq EGP-PP01 is shipping
We have seen prototypes of mobile phones with an integrated projector and we have heard that these are coming. Epoq, known for selling MP4 wristwatches is now shipping a GSM phone with integrated video projection capability.
The Epoq EGP-PP01 is a tri-band GSM unlocked mobile phone with touch screen, media player and more. The integrated micro-projection module can project stored images and video as large as 30 inch diagonal. It can also be connected to DVD players, portable media players, and other video sources to project the signal.
The resolution of the projector is 640 x 480 pixels and the battery lasts for 2 hours when projecting.

Taiwanese Fuchitek announces the Fuchiview PEP01 pico projector. The Fuchiview PEP01 measures only 115 x 50 x 22mm and weighs 160g.
The Pico projector features a VGA resolution and a 80:1 contrast ratio.
Other features of the Fuchiview PEP01 include 6”-50” (13-130cm) image size, NTSC & PAL auto switch, 4:3 aspect ratio, fanless design, and battery power option.

LG HS102G palm-sized LED Projector unveiled
LG announces the palm-sized LED projector LG HS102G. Measurements of the highly portable new LG projector are 154x117mm, and the weight is 780g.
The LED DLP HS102G projector achieves a lamp life of over 30,000 hours and runs at a very quite 23db.
The brightness of the HS102G is 160 ANSI Lumen and the contrast ratio is 2,000:1.

NEC Unveils Pair of Mobile Projectors
NEC announced two new portable projectors called the NP41 and the NP61. The projectors are designed with features that allow them to be set up and taken down quickly like quick-start and quick-cooling. Both projectors automatically detect the input source and project the image. Both also take advantage of one-touch image optimization.
The NP41 projector has 2300 lumens of brightness and the NP61 has 3000 lumens. Both projectors have a 1600:1 contrast ratio and XGA 1024 x 768 resolution. The projectors weigh the same 3.5 pounds and use a 6-segment color wheel. Inputs include 15-pin RGB, RCA, S-Video and audio input. HD compatibility is featured in both projectors. The NP61 will ship in September for $1399 and the NP41 will ship in October for $999. Read more

Italian high-end home theater projector maker announces the new Domino D60 projector with a price point under $5,000.
The new Sim2 D60 features a single-chip DLP projection system, which is based upon the latest 1080p DarkChip3 0.95-inch DMD chipset from Texas Instruments.
The TI DarkChip3 incorporates two recent developments: BrilliantColor improves optical efficiency and extends the system’s available color gamut, while Dynamic Black contrast-enhancement significantly boosts effective black-level.

Samsung SP-P400 Projector promises over 20,000 hours Lamp Life
Samsung showed the small SP-P400 projector at the CES 2008 for the first time. Now the company provides more details and puts emphasis on the extreme long lamp life of the SP-P400.
Today's projectors need a lamp replacement after 2,000-3,000 hours. The SP-P400 uses an LED lamp that achieves a life time of over 20,000 hours. This translates into zero cost of ownership for such an LED based projector.

Samsung Introduces A400 and D300 Data Projectors
Samsung recently announced two new data projectors called the A400 and D300. Both projectors are DLP-based and offer high brightness and contrast. Samsung says the A400 is the ultimate crossover projector for the home and office with a resolution of 1280 x 768 with a 2500:1 contrast ratio and 2000 lumens of brightness.
The A400 has HDMI connectivity, RGB, composite/component, S-Video and monitor-out. The A400 weighs 9.9 pounds. The Samsung D300 offers a resolution of 1024 x 768 and a 3000:1 contrast ratio with 3000 lumens of brightness. The D300 has RGB, HDMI, composite/component, S-video, monitor out and RS-232. Read more

Mitsubishi introduces Premium LCD HDTVs with integrated Sound Projector
Mitsubishi introduced a pair of new Ultra Thin Frame premium flat panel HDTVs today that feature integrated Sound Projectors. The two sets are the 46-inch screen LT-46149 and the 52-inch screen LT-52149 models.
The integrated sound projector uses an array of 16 speakers to reproduce a true 5.1 surround sound listening experience without needing speakers or wiring to accomplish it. Both models also feature a 120Hz refresh rate and the ability to display HD programming. The 46-inch set will retail for $3299 and the 52-ich set will sell for $3699. Read more

projectiondesign unveiled the F10 AS3D single-chip DLP Projector at the InfoComm 2008, which is the only portable high resolution active 3D stereoscopic projector on the market.
The projectiondesign F10 AS3D enables full 3D stereoscopic visualization from a small, single lens chassis, and at full 120 Hz refresh rates commonly used in stereoscopic systems.

Christie Unveils New 3-Chip DLP Projectors
If you have been to the movies you have probably watched a film on a Christie projector. My local theater likes to show the little Christie logo film twice before it shows the film. Christie has announced some new projectors in the high-end Pro Av projector class.
The Christie M series has six new models ranging from 5000 lumens up to 9500 lumens and two resolutions are available including 1400 x 1050 and 1920 x 1080. Two new lens options are also offered on the series with a short zoom 1.25-1.6:1 SX+ / 1.16-1.49:1 HD and a long zoom 7.5-11.2:1 SX+ / 6.9-10.4:1 HD. Pricing is unknown, but this is one of those things that if you have to ask, you probably can’t afford. Read more

Samsung P400 Projector is Small and Portable
Samsung announced its latest portable projector called the P400 Pocket Images aimed at the business user. The projector is small, but if you plan to carry it in your pocket, they better be big pockets—it measures 5” W x 3.7” D x 2” H and weighs 1.9 pounds.
The P400 uses LEDs rather than a projector lamp giving a lifespan of 30,000 hours. The resolution is 800 x 600 and the contrast ratio is 1000:1. By using LEDs the projector gives up brightness with only 150 lumens. It can project an image of 30” to 40” in a well lit office though. Inputs include RGB, composite, S-Video, and audio in. Samsung AP-A800B Projector Now Available Nationwide
We first saw the Samsung SP-A800B high-end home theater projector back in August of 2007. It took Samsung nearly a year, but it is finally announcing that the SP-A800B is now available nationwide for purchase.
Samsung says that the projector offers full 1080p resolution and offers a cinema-quality image. The projector uses the TI 1080p DLP chip for color and image quality and has a 95% aperture ratio and a fast 16 microsecond response time. The contrast ratio for the projector is 10000:1 and it has a 24 fps film mode found in commercial movie theaters. Pricing is not announced at this time. Read more

Sony VPL-FH300 and VPL-FW300 Pricey new Sony Business Projectors
If you can convince your boss that you need a Sony VPL-FH300 projector in your office than you are a gifted IT administrator. Sony wants $40k for the Sony VPL-FH300. Also not a bargain is the VPL-FW300 which still costs $27k.
Ok, Sony actually aims these two projectors at larger venues like auditoriums. The Sony VPL-FW300L (7,000 lumens) and the VPL-FH300L (6,000 lumens) projector models complement Sony’s 4K large-venue projection systems.
The Sony VPL-FW300 projector has a WXGA+ resolution of 1366 x 800, while the VPL-FH300 unit delivers resolution of 2048 x 1080. Both are housed in the same chassis, and share the same type of lenses, lamps, and filters as well as the same connections and network functions.

NEC Introduces a Pair of New Projectors
NEC introduced a pair of new projectors today called the NP905 and NP901W. NEC says that the two projectors are for installations and are network-compatible. The NP905 has 3000 lumens of brightness and the NP901W has 2000 lumens.
Both are compatible with Windows Network Projector functionality from Windows Vista. Remote desktop connections can be made to the projectors from a wired or wireless network. Complete control of the host computer can be done from the projectors by connecting a USB mouse and keyboard to the projector’s USB port. Both projectors will be available in July of 2008 at $1999.99 for the NP905 and $1299.99 for the NP901W. Read more
