Samsung Launches New LCD Photo Frames
Samsung announced a new line of LCD photo frames that includes four models -- SPF-85H, SPF-85V, SPF-105P, and SPF-105V. The 85H and 85V frames have an 8-inch screen and will sell for $129.99 and $199.99 respectively. The 85V is Wi-Fi enabled and both will be available on September 1st
The 105P and 105V both use 10-inch screens and will be available on October 1st. The 105V is Wi-Fi enabled and will sell for $289.99 with the 105P selling for $199.99. The frames have capacitive touch buttons that disappear after 10 seconds of inactivity. The frames can also act as a second monitor for your computer. Read more

Qimonda Starts Volume Production for XDR DRAM for PS3
Qimonda AG announced that it has started shipping XDR DRAM in volume for the Sony PS3 game console. The first 512MB samples started to ship in January 2008. The memory operates at 3.2Gbps, has 6.4GB/s of peak memory bandwidth and provides 12.8GB/s of bandwidth per device.
Qimonda says that the XDR DRAM will allow designers to provide an order of magnitude higher performance than possible by today's standards. The designers can also get more performance with fewer memory devices. Read more

Patriot Announces Intel XMP Certified DDR3 RAM
Patriot Memory announced today that it has received Intel's XMP certification on the Patriot DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Viper series RAM. The certification means that the RAM offers the best overclocking potential possible on Intel chipsets.
The RAM works with an easy to use overclocking tool to allow users to optimize performance for their system. The Intel XMP certified part is PVS32G1600LLK running at 1600MHz with timings of 7-7-7-18. The kit consists of a pair of 1GB modules. Read more

Microsoft announces Security Information-Sharing Programs at Black Hat 2008
At the Black Hat USA 2008 conference today, Microsoft Corp. introduced security-related programs that share early information with partners to help them protect customers quickly and effectively. The new programs also provide additional information and guidance to help customers evaluate risks and prioritize the deployment of Microsoft security updates.
Along with the predictability of Microsoft’s monthly security update process is the emergence of an undesirable cycle — the release of exploit code, related to those updates, sometimes within hours of release. Understanding this changing threat environment, Microsoft will offer the Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP), which gives security software providers advance information about vulnerabilities addressed by Microsoft security updates. This will allow security software providers to offer protections to customers quickly and effectively.

Softbank dramatically cuts monthly Fees for iPhone 3G in Japan
Softbank reduces the monthly fees for the iPhone 3G in Japan. Softbank says that they want to reach a broader customer base with the new much lower rates.
The new monthly fee is 2,990 yen (~$27). It was 7,280 yen (~$67) before, which means Softbank cut the price by over 50%. The price-cut stems mostly from a reduced price of the data flat rate.

Corsair Claims Title of Fastest Production DDR3 RAM
Corsair has laid claim to the title of fastest production DDR3 RAM with the release of its new Dominator DDR3 RAM running at 2133MHz. The kit is part number TW3X2G2133C9DF and retails for $575. For that amount of cash you get two 1GB sticks for a total of 2GB of high performance RAM.
The RAM runs timings of 9-9-9-24 at 1333MHz and was tested by Corsair on an NVIDIA 790i based mainboard to run at 2133MHz. The Corsair modules have a lifetime warranty. The modules also use corsairs Dual-Path Heat Xchange cooling system. Read more

Crucial Announces New DDR3 RAM for Gamers
Crucial announced today that it was launching new DDR3 RAM aimed at gamers and enthusiasts in its Ballistix DDR3 line. Crucial has added new RAM speeds that are available right now including PC3-10600, PC3-14400.
The new speeds are going into the line along with the existing DDR3-1600MHz and DDR3-2000MHz. Crucial also says that some of its RAM offerings feature enhanced profiles that enhance performance further when used with compatible platforms. Read more

Samsung announced a new range of elegant digital photo frames with Wi-Fi and RSS support.
The premium V series feature a glossy wooden frame and come in 8 and 10 inch sizes. The line-up includes the SPF-86V and SPF-105V photo frame. The Samsung SPF-86V and SPF-105V can automatically grab photos via an RSS feed from a website.

New Shuttle Barebone Supports DDR3 RAM
Shuttle announced its latest small form factor barebone system today called the Shuttle XPC Barebone SX48P2 Deluxe. The system features the Intel X48 chipset and the ability to run dual-core and quad-core CPUs.
The little PC comes with lots of features including built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a fingerprint reader, USB speed link function and dual heat pipe cooling systems. The X48 chipset supports 45nm CPUs including Extreme editions and has space for up to 8GB of DDR3 1600. Read more

Posit Science has announced that Mac users can now get its Brain fitness Program Classic for Mac OS X. The program offers users exercises that are designed to provide faster thinking, sharper focus, and better memory.

Kodak Shows Off new Wi-Fi Digital Frames
Kodak has been announced a lot of new products recently and to go along with the new camera and HD set top box Kodak has announced a pair of new wireless digital photo frames. The new frames include the Kodak EasyShare W820 and W1020 models. The W820 is an 8-inch frame and the W1020 is a 10-inch frame.
Both share the same features including built-in Wi-Fi for streaming images directly to the frame from your PC. The images on the frame can be controlled with the Quick Touch Border for touch or slide operation. Internal storage is 512MB and the frame can be customized to match the décor of the home with two included mattes. Both frames are going to be available in August at undisclosed pricing. Read more
