AMD says the ATI Radeon HD 4850 is the first TeraFLOPS graphics card available. Additionally the HD 4870 based cards feature GDDR5 memory.

ATI Radeon HD 4850 and 4870: RV770 has arrived
Hot Hardware looks at the new ATI Radeon HD 4850 and 4870.
Quote: "Last week, due to some unexpected circumstances, we were able to post a sneak peek of the RV770 GPU and ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card. As our limited testing showed, the Radeon HD 4850 was quite promising for a $199 graphics card. But we weren't able to tell the complete story. While the initial benchmarks definitely looked good, there was a lot more to talk about in regard to the Radeon HD 4850 and the RV770 GPU at the heart of the card.

Quote from the review: " It has been a hard two years for ATI and we know that many people out there have been counting down the days until the boys in red returned to competitiveness. Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512MB Review
Club Overclocker published a Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512MB review.
Quote from the review: "What a crazy week this has been. First, with the unintentional early release of the 4850, followed by the nVidia bombshell announcement of the 9800GTX+, there has not been a dull moment. All this chaos in the market has precipitated a serious price war in which all of us win.

Diamond ATI Radeon HD 4850 Review
Motherboards published a Diamond ATI Radeon HD 4850 review. Diamond just announced the HD 4850 Card last Friday.
Quote from the review: "This card will essentially be a XFX Black Edition 9800GTX as the clock speeds will be 738MHz for the core and higher clock speed for the Shader clock. It will be an interesting battle for sure, but ATI has fired the first salvo towards high-performance sub-$200 video cards of 2008. The high-end enthusiast market wanting an ATI card that competes well against NVIDIA's best will have to wait a month or so until the HD4870 arrives and its dual-chip brother the 4870X2. They will have higher clock speeds, GDDR5 memory and be much more competitive against the GTX260 and GTX280 (here's a hint; two 4870s working together on a single PCB will likely outperform GTX280 for the same price point) If this forces NVIDIA to lower their prices it will be a much better market, after all, who wants to spend $650+ on a new video card if you can help it.

Diamond Radeon HD 4850 Now Available
Earlier this week NVIDIA beat AMD/ATI to the punch by announced its 9800 GTX+ video cards right before AMD announced its new HD 4850. The HD 4850 has 512MB of GDDR3 memory with a 256-bit memory interface. The card supports DirectX 10.1 and CrossFireX. AMD packs 480 stream processors into the card, significantly more than the 9800 GTX+. Though NVIDIA claims the GTX+ performs better. Read more

A first look at the ATI Radeon HD 4850
TechReport offers a first look at the unreleased ATI Radeon HD 4850.
Quote: "The battle between AMD and Nvidia for the hearts, minds, and disposable income of PC enthusiasts is starting to get scrappy. First, AMD scheduled a press event to distract folks from Nvidia's GeForce GTX 200 series launch, which Nvidia subsequently pulled forward. Perhaps in retaliation, the green team then divulged plans to unleash a faster version of its GeForce 9800 GTX. This GeForce 9800 GTX+ will sell for only $229, dropping the vanilla 9800 to $199—conveniently stepping on the price point of AMD's next-gen Radeon HD 4850 graphics card.

ATI Radeon HD 4850 In Crossfire at 4GHz
Tweaktown tested the ATI Radeon HD 4850 in Crossfire at 4GHz.
Quote from the review: "Back to IBuyPower Australia we go. We have intentions of letting the HD 4850s really shine in the 4GHz Q9650 beast that we’re becoming quite accustomed to using. Later today we will be posting our Sapphire HD 4850 review from our own testbed. For that reason we won't be going into details on the cards here. What we will do is have a quick look the setup and get straight into these benchmarks.

Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 X2 Reviewed
TheTechLounge published a Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 X2 review.
Quote from the review: "So why not just get two 3870s and rub a little CrossFire into your box? There are two reasons, really. For most people, that's just not an option. Dual-PCI-Express can easily tag a Benjamin onto the price of a motherboard, and, in Micro-ATX land, it's a mythical beast that visits overclockers in their dreams.

Diamond Viper Radeon HD 3650 1GB review
Techspot published a Diamond Viper Radeon HD 3650 1GB review.
Quote from the review: "The Radeon HD 3650 looks to be an attractive product on paper, it is the latest member of the Radeon HD 3000 series, and can carry up to 1GB of memory on-board. The 3650 is also a Direct X 10.1 compliant card that supports the PCI Express 2.0 bus. Furthermore, like all Radeon HD 3000 series products, this new low-end graphics card is built using a 55nm design process. Topped off with a 725MHz core speed, the Radeon HD 3650 sounds like quite a gutsy little graphics card.

AMD announces GDDR5 ATI Radeon Graphics Cards
Today AMD announced the first commercial implementation of GDDR5 (Graphics Double Data Rate, version 5) memory in its forthcoming next generation of ATI Radeon graphics cards.
The GPU performance in today's graphics cards is limited by the rate at which data can be moved on and off the graphics chip, which in turn is limited by the memory interface width and die size.
The higher data rates supported by GDDR5 is up to 5x that of GDDR3 and 4x that of GDDR4.

Quote from the review: "What’s different about the Diamond HD 3650 from Diamond is that it carries with it a massive 1GB of memory. We’re not really big on huge amounts of memory added to a mid-range card, but we’ll have to see if Diamond is able to do anything with the HD 3650 here today that impresses us.
