New Toshiba Regza ZF LCD HDTV features PS3 Cell Chip

At the IFA 2008 Toshiba will introduce the first LCD HDTV containing the power of the CELL CPU known from the Sony PS3.

The Cell chip in the Toshiba Regza ZF-series is used for Resolution+. Toshiba's Resolution+ creates upscaled images from SD sources that are supposedly very close to HD quality. Read more

Toshiba introduces three new REGZA RH500 and three CV500 series HDTVs in Japan.

The Toshiba REGZA 42RH500, 37RH500 and 32RH500 feature an integrated PVR with a 300GB HDD. The 42 inch and 37 inch RH500 have full HD resolution and the 32 inch model is HD Ready.

Toshiba introduces the REGZA ZH500 and ZV500 HDTV series in Japan.

The Toshiba REGZA 52ZH500 (52 inch) and 46ZH500 (46 inch) feature an integrated 300GB hard-drive PVR.
Both ZH500 series TVs have full HD (1920x1080px) resolution and BS 110 degree CS digital 2 digital tuner along with two analog tuners.

Toshiba Regza 42X3000P 42 inch 1080p HDTV Review

Most of our reviews these days are done by Shane in his Texas based test lab. To be able to do more product testing, I decided to upgrade our test lab in Germany with a new 1080p HDTV to better 'evaluate' HD equipment like the Sony PS3 and other HD equipment.

As 1080p was a fixed requirement the choice came down to the Toshiba Regza 42X3000P 42 inch HDTV pretty quickly as the low price and the high-end specifications are currently unmatched on the German TV market. Amazon Germany sells the 42X3000P for EUR 1.267,95. Read more

Toshiba Adds 40RF35OU and 46RF35OU HDTVs to REGZA Line

Toshiba added two new products to its REGZA LCD HDTV line at CEDIA today. Both are 1080p full HD sets and feature the world’s thinnest LCD TV bezel according to Toshiba, which measures in at less than 1-inch wide.

The REGZA Super Narrow Bezel HDTV sets will be available in 40-inch and 46-inch sizes. The new LCD HDTV’s use 10-bit LCD panels for richer and more accurate colors with 64 times the colors of an 8 bit panel and they use xvYCC signal support to accept more than 1.8x more colors than standard HD signals. Toshiba announced today the addition of their largest ever REGZA HD LCD TV and adds that they have increased their market share by 90% in 32-42” LCD HD TVs. Toshiba announced today the availability of their 46”, 47” and 52” REGZA LCD TVs and the upcoming July availability of their largest LCD TV, the 57” Cinema Series.

Toshiba announces a new line of LCD HDTVs with 300GB HDD and eSATA port for additional external Hard-drive.

I am not a fan of putting a digital video recorder inside a TV. Usually a TV has a longer live span than components. These integrated solutions seem to be popular in Asia though.

The Toshiba Regza H3000 HDTVs come in 32, 37, 42, 46 and 52 inch screen sizes. Besides the 32 inch model all support full HD resolution. Read more

Toshiba also felt the need to introduce a sub-brand for its large-sized flat panel TVs: REGZA.

Sony gave us BRAVIA last summer and now Toshiba counters with REGZA.
The best thing is that both companies found words to make the brand an abbreviation for something.
Decide for yourself which one is a bigger brain fart:

Sony BRAVIA: "Best Resolution Audio Video Integrated Architecture"
Toshiba REGZA: "Real Expression Guaranteed by amaZing Architecture"

Toshiba says REGZA is derived from the German word regsam. Regsam means alert or active in English. REGZA will be a global brand for Toshiba, which is the only good aspect about it. Read more
