Apple can remotely kill iPhone App

Jonathan Zdziarski author of the book iPhone Forensics found out that Apple has apparently a method to remotely deactivate iPhone Apps on your iPhone.
Apple is apparently keeping a live blacklist of bad iPhone Apps. The list is empty right now.
On the one hand this feature is pretty cool and allows Apple to have a lot of control over iPhone applications. So in case someone sneaks an iPhone App with a Trojan horse inside onto the iTunes App store, Apple still has the ability to kill the app, even if you installed it already. Read more

ScanSafe Says Remote Workers are up to No Good

ScanSafe released data today that shows remote workers working from outside the office are up to no good online much more than their office bound counterparts. According to the 8 billion Web requests processed by the company in March roaming workers are more likely to visit certain types of websites.

The data shows that remote workers were 8.5 times more likely to visit illegal file sharing sites, 2.5 times more likely to visit porn sites, and 5.2 times more likely to visit so-called extreme websites. Read more

US Analog TV shuts off in One Year, start teaching Granny how to use two Remotes

The United States will transition to digital TV in one year. The Government is handing out $40 coupons to purchase digital converter boxes.

I assume that all I4U News readers have no issue with the transition. Many of you might already have a new flatscreen TV with integrated ATSC tuner. Logitech Harmony One Remote Unveiled at CES 2008

Today Logitech held a special press event where it showed of its latest wares for CES 2008. One of the more interesting items that Logitech had to show off was a new Harmony universal remote control. The remote is directly below the Harmony 1000 touch screen in price.

Logitech says the remote should be available soon at a price of $299. For that amount of cash you get a universal remote that programs via software on your computer so you don’t have to enter any codes. The remote can control 15 different devices.

The remote allows you to program tasks like watch a DVD to a custom button on the integrated touch screen. When pressed the remote will turn on your audio system, set the correct input, set the TV input and even press play for you while you sit back and relax. Read more

Bang & Olufsen Launch Beo5 Remote Control

Bang & Olufsen have launched a new remote control called the Beo5 that has a very strange design. The device has a square LCD screen attached to a round module that has buttons for controlling functions of your home theater.

The large color LCD screen is touch sensitive and uses chemically hardened glass. The cool part about the touch-sensitive screen used here is that it attempts to give tactile feedback that most touch screen devices lack. Read more
