HP Slate Demo Video Released
We still know very little about the upcoming HP slate. It's going to be extremely slender, and it has a design form at least as good as the iPad. While we know roughly what the Slate will be able to do (watch movies, read magazines, surf...) we don't know much about its hardware. Now a new demo video (via Engadget) has emerged, giving us a better idea of how this gadget will work.

Nokia Poised To Unveil C-Series Phones?
Nokia is giving major hints on its official blog that its newest line of mobile phones (the C-Series) will be unveiled at this week's CeBIT show in Germany.
Nokia has added a text panel to its official blog with a teaser about CeBIT. At the top they write, "C you at CeBIT" (a play on the new C-Series), and down further they mention that the C-Series was rumored during the Mobile World Congress (MWC). It's not crystal clear, to be sure, but it does seem like they're hinting at something.

Windows 7 Phone Series Details Released
Here we go! Microsoft has finally seen fit to release some hard information on the upcoming Windows Phone 7 Series. Their website has a multimedia section filled with video demonstrations, as well as a “backstage access” section that details the design process.

Laptop Webcams Used To Spy On Students
Have you ever considered the possibility that someone could be watching you, right through your webcam? If you use a laptop with any frequency, that little camera is staring you straight in the eyes every minute you are on. Kind of chilling, isn't it? Good thing no one has ever used a laptop webcam as a spy camera.
Oh wait, someone just did. Cory Doctorow reports on of the scariest stories to involve the tech industry since the Foxconn suicide. The Lower Merion School District, whose students live in suburban Philly, issues laptops to all of its kids. All of these laptops have webcams that were set up to allow the administrators to activate them remotely.

Blizzard Starts Closed Beta for StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
Blizzard Entertainment has announced that it is now starting the closed beta for the next installment in the StarCraft franchise. The new title is StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. The game is a RTS title and Blizzard has invited thousands of gamers to participate in the beta.
The beta testers are also getting a first look at the revamped Battle.net service that will be the online platform used for StarCraft II and WoW. WoW continues to be the most played MMORPG on the planet and hugely profitable for Blizzard. Read more

Motorola has been very secretive about their Super Bowl 2010 Ad. Rumors that Motorola is advertising during Super Bowl already appeared end of 2009. Now Motorola has setup a teaser site for their commercial and it features a bath tube.
The very brief preview just shows a stylish bathroom with a bath tube filled with foam. At the Super Bow XLIV Motorola says we will see what can happen when the power of Motoblur is unleashed.

Canon Unveils New MPEG-2 Full HD 4:2:2 File-based Recording Codec
Canon is talking about the new MPEG-2 full HD file-based recording codec that it will be using in a pro video camera that it is currently working on. The new codec will also the camera to record 1920 x 1080 full HD video using 4:2:2 color sampling.
Other camera standards like HDV use 4:2:0 profiles that don't allow as much colors reproduction as the new Canon format. The new format will also allow a maximum data volume of 50Mbps, which is twice the data volume of HDV. Read more

There's really not much more to say here than that. The game itself is still year(s) away, but Blizzard has sent out a series of in-game screenshots to keep us tantalized. Fudzilla states that the release date is sometime in 2011, but we all know how reliable Blizzard release dates are.

Doritos Super Bowl Ads Voting Has Closed
Doritos has closed the voting on the final six Super Bowl ads for 2010. The three winning Super Bowl Ads will be aired during the Super Bowl XLIV on the coming Sunday.
Doritos opened the voting on their Super Bowl 2010 ad entries earlier this month.
As reported, Doritos is putting $5 million on the line if all three of their ads land on top of the USA Today Ad Meter in Super Bowl 2010.
This huge prize money has motivated a lot of people and there are over 4,000 Doritos Super Bowl 2010 ad submissions.

Mobinnova Unveils Tiny NVIDIA Tegra-based Netbook
Mobinnova has unveiled a new netbook that has a small screen and is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra platform that supports AT&T 3G service. The small little machine sports an 8.9-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600. The device has 512MB of RAM and 512MB of NAND for OS storage.
The OS used on the device is Android and storage for data and software is to an 8-64GB SSD and can be expanded with SD cards of up to 64GB. The device operates on HSPA 7.2 and 5.1Mbps networks and UMTS 850/1900/2100 networks. It also has GPRS EDGE connectivity. Read more

Samsung and Luminus Devices Launch LED-based Front Data Projector
Samsung and Luminus Devices have announced that they are partnering to launch a new LED-based front data projector. The projector will use the Luminus PhlatLight LEDs and will have a resolution of 1024 x 768.
The Led projector segment is growing rapidly and while the projectors typically cost more than their standard counterparts, the LEDs last much, much longer than the traditional light source potentially saving the user hundreds of dollars during the lifetime of the projector. Read more
