Creative viral marketers in the UK invented the fake sport of Bearded Ladyboarding to promote the Oregon Scientific ATC 3K.

Windows 7 Screen-shots released

As reported earlier Microsoft unveiled the pre-beta of Windows 7 at the PDC 2008 today. Now screen-shots of the Windows 7 user interface got published by Microsoft giving a glimpse on how Microsoft achieves simplicity visually.

Pretty much everything is new. New desktop, new taskbar, new Windows chrome, new gadget support and more. The Windows 7 UI looks visually light and cleaned-up. It could be good if its snappy.

Sony PSP Firmware 5.01 released by Sony

Sony found an issue in the just released PSP firmware 5.00.
The new firmware 5.01 fixes issues related to larger-capacity Memory Stick PRO Duos.

When downloading content from the Store to a PSP with an 8 GB or 16 GB Memory Stick Duo media inserted, you may see a message indicating that the media does not have enough free space, even when sufficient space exists. Read more

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actor Gerard Butler, star of the movie "300," is being investigated for an alleged attack on a photographer, a Los Angeles police spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
In the latest in a series of clashes between celebrities and paparazzi in Los Angeles, a photographer filed a police report accusing Butler, 38, of punching him several times in the face in a scuffle early on Tuesday morning, said LAPD spokeswoman Ana Aguirre.

Nintendo promises increased Wii Stock for the Holidays

Nintendo promises to increase Wii supply for this holiday shopping season. The last two Holiday shopping seasons the Wii was a hard find and Nintendo actually lost sales. The Wii has still been flying from store shelves and has been a ghost in online shops throughout the year.
Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America said that Nintendo is significantly increasing supply of the Wii.
He would not disclose how many Nintendo will ship to the U.S. and if he thinks Nintendo would actually meet demand this year. Read more

Sony PS3 Firmware 2.43 released

Sony offers a new firmware update for the Sony PS3. The new PS3 Firmware 2.43 is only necessary for Japanese PS3 owners.
The 2.43 update only adds in the PLAYSTATION Store in Japan a rental option for content.

The 2.43 firmware will not be notified on PS3 consoles outside of Japan. You could trigger it though under System Update. Installing it on U.S. or European PS3 consoles would not have any side effects. Read more

Zune 3.0 released and free Wi-Fi Access at McDonald's

The new Zune 3.0 software is now available for download. Additionally Microsoft announced today that Zune owners get free wi-fi access at 9,800 McDonald's restaurants to access the Zune Marketplace to download music.
Microsoft partnered with Wayport Inc. to offer the free connectivity at the Burger joints.

In addition to the recently announced Zune 16GB and Zune 120GB available in black at retailers nationwide, Zune Originals will also offer the Zune 16GB in blue, red, pink, and green as an online exclusive. Read more

Bill Tancer, a self-described "data geek," has analyzed information for over 10 million web users to conclude that we are, in fact, what we click, with Internet searches giving an up-to-date view of how society and people are changing.
Some of his findings are great trivia, such as the fact that elbows, belly button lint and ceiling fans are on the list of people's top fears alongside social intimacy and rejection.
Others give an indication of people's interests or emotions, with an annual spike in searches for anti-depression drugs around Thanksgiving time in the United States.

HP thinks about own OS based on Linux?

The BusinessWeek runs a story about HP exploring ways to come up with their own OS to offer something simpler than the still ill-reputed Windows Vista.
The netbook vendors led by Asus have shown how that works offering Netbooks with Linux variants that surprisingly work well. Microsoft could last minute squeeze in XP to still be part of that computer segment. Read more
