Sharp announced the Willcom D4, which was the first Intel Atom based MID in April.
Features of the Sharp Willcom D4 include 5 inch TFT screen, Intel Atom Z520 processor at 1.33GHz, 1GB RAM, 40GB HDD, Wifi, QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, micro-sd card, WANSEGU Digital TV Tuner and 2MP camera.

Sharp announces whole new lines of energy saving LED lighting products for commercial or office buildings.
Sharp introduces for starters 11 different LED lighting solutions.
LED lights have a much longer life-time and use less energy. The problem is only the subjective feel of the LED light's quality - it is still rather cold and we are just suckers for fire or glowing light.

Sharp Brain PW-AC880 and PW-AC830 unveiled
Sharp unveiled a new generation of its electronic dictionaries dubbed Brain PW-AC880 and PW-AC830.
The new Sharp Brain dictionaries feature an LCD screen with HVGA (480x320px) resolution and 5 colors. Why just 5 colors? Well Sharp aimed at a battery life of these devices of 80 hours.

Sharper Image Stores Offering Steep Gadget Discounts as Stores Close
Sharper Image stores announced today that they are having a gadget sell off with discounts of 20% to 40% on everything in the store as all 86 of its stores across the country prepare to close down. Sharper Image stores filed for bankruptcy not too long ago.
It seems that the Sharper Image isn’t going out of business completely, but the store closings are called a major transformation of the Sharper Image brand. I would assume that means Sharper Image is going to a completely web based model. Read more

The Sharp Willcom 03 has some interesting user interface gimmicks. Besides the slide out QWERY keyboard the Willcom 03 has split touchscreen. The lower part can switch between a key and a media button layout.

Sharp introduced 22 new Aquos LCD TVs in Japan. The Sharp Aquos D Series include 9 new LCD TV models.
The Sharp Aquos D series comes in 42, 37 and 32 inch screen sizes and three colors (Black, White and Red) designed by Toshiyuki Kita.
Features of the new Sharp Aquos D series LCD HDTVs include 15,000:1 contrast ratio, 120Hz, 12 bit gray-scale processing, and 3 HDMI ports.

New Sharp Aquos R LCD HDTVs
Sharp announced overall 22 new LCD TVs in Japan today including six new Sharp Aquos R series HDTVs.
The six new Sharp Aquos R LCD full HD TVs come in 65, 52 and 46 inches and two bezel colors.
Sharp uses the industry highest contrast ratio LCD panel in the Aquos R series. The maximum contrast ratio is 20,000:1. The panel itself has 3,300:1, but Sharp uses special backlight control that achieves up to 20,000:1. In a well lit room the contrast ratio is still 1,500:1 with the Aquos R series.

Sharp announces three new Blu-ray Player with Hard-drives in Japan.

Sharp 922SH 3G Internet Machine dissected
In March Sharp introduced the Sharp 922SH 3G Internet Machine smartphone in Japan. The Nikkei Electronics Teardown Squad has taken this Sharp smartphone apart and tells us what is inside.
The Sharp 922SH features identical parts to those found in the FULLFACE SoftBank 921SH and other models developed by Sharp. The Teardown squad finds the angular velocity sensor and Sensor Key especially interesting.

Sharp Willcom D4 is first Intel Atom MID running Windows Vista
Sharp announces the Mobile Internet Device Willcom D4, which is apparently beating everybody else to be the first Intel Atom MID running Windows Vista.
Intel announced the Atom CPUs on April 1st. The new Sharp WillCom D4 is designed for the Japanese market as it leverages the Willcom PHS network, but gives us an idea on the Atom MIDs that will be coming to the market this year.
