Sprint Announces Smallest USB Broadband Modem in the Country
Sprint announced today that it and Sierra Wireless were introducing the countries smallest USB broadband modem called the Compass 597 USB modem. The tiny modem is 70% smaller than the AirCard 595U.
Measurements for the device are 1.2” x 2.4” x 0.4” and it weighs only 0.7 ounces. The modem is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS’ and uses the Qualcomm MSM6800A-3 chipset. Read more

Sprint reveals Sanyo Pro-200 and Pro-700 Push-to-Talk Phones
Sprint announced today the upcoming launch of two new Nextel Direct Connect devices, the Sanyo Pro-200 and the Sanyo Pro-700.
Powered by Qualcomm's QChat technology, these new Nextel Direct Connect devices operate on the Rev. A portions of the Sprint Mobile Broadband network (except in Puerto Rico).
Sporting an attractive, slim clamshell form factor, the Pro-200 by Sanyo delivers instant Nextel Direct Connect push-to-talk services and key functionalities including Bluetooth, messaging capabilities and mobile email. This device will be available for as low as $49.99 with a two-year service agreement and $50 mail-in rebate.

Samsung Instinct for Sprint unveiled at CTIA 2008
Samsung Mobile today announced the Samsung Instinct touchscreen smartphone exclusively available through Sprint at the CTIA 2008.
The Samsung Instinct features a 3.1 inch touch screen (240x432px resolution) with localized tactile feedback called haptics, which allow the virtual QWERTY keypad and other operations to become a sensory experience.
The new Samsung device also offers a Voice to Action button providing many functions using voice activation including call, text, picture messaging, traffic, movie, sports, news and search.

Sprint Offers Free Access to MySpace Mobile
Sprint announced today that it is the first wireless carrier to offer access to MySpace Mobile on all of its web-enabled phones. Sprint says that this marks the first free direct access to the new MySpace Mobile on all web-enabled Sprint phones.
"Mobile is the next generation of social networking," said Brandon Lucas, senior director of mobile business development for MySpace. "Our partnership with Sprint makes it easier and faster for customers to get the most out of MySpace when they're on the go." Read more

Sprint HTC Mogul Gets EV-DO Rev A Update
Sprint announced that it is offering the first EV-DO rev A compatible handset via a software update for the HTC Mogul. The Mogul was the first Windows Mobile device on the Sprint network and the new software update unlocks faster data speeds.
In Sprint service areas where EV-DO Rev A service is available Mogul users will be able to get data download speeds of 600 Kbps to 1.4 Mbps and upload speeds will be 350– 500 Kbps. Previously the fastest speeds the handset was capable of was 400 to 700 Kbps download and 50-70 Kbps upload. Read more

Sprint Offers NASCAR Fans NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile
Sprint announced a new, free application today for NASCAR fans that are Sprint subscribers. The free application is available to users with compatible handsets and a data plan. To get the application users text NASCAR to 7777 and a message is sent back with a link to the application.
Once installed fans will have access to rankings and video clips and on race day fans can listen to live audio broadcasts between the driver and his crew. Leader boards and more information is available as well. Read more

Sprint unveils $99.99 Simply Everything Plan
Verizon and AT&T already introduced $99.99 unlimited plans, now Sprint also offers a similar plan but with everything included.
Sprint $99.99 unlimited plan includes domestic unlimited voice, data, text, e-mail, Web-surfing, Sprint TV, Sprint Music, GPS Navigation, Direct Connect and Group Connect.
The new pricing plan is available to existing and new customers beginning tomorrow.

Sprint reports Record Loss of $29.5 Billion in Q4
Sprint Nextel reported a record loss of $29.5 Billion. The company wrote off almost all of the Nextel acquisition cost from 2005. Shares of Sprint shares are currently down 11%.
Sprint already borrowed $2.5 billion to increase financial flexibility. On top of these financial issues the 3rd largest wireless carrier in the U.S. is losing subscribers.
