TiVo and Netflix announced that TiVo Series3, TiVo HD, and TiVo HD XL DVRs will be supporting the Netflix movie streaming service. Netflix on TiVo is currently in limited testing and will fully roll-out in early December.
Currently the Netflix streaming service offers 12,000 choices of movies and TV episodes that you can watch directly from Netflix on your TV now also via TiVo. Read more

Nero and TiVo Deliver LiquidTV | TiVo PC

Nero and TiVo have teamed up to offer PC users TiVo functionality directly on the computer. The product is called Nero LiquidTV | TiVo PC. Users can pause, rewind, and watch live TV right on the computer.

The software also allows the programs to be exported to the iPod PSP, or DVD. TiVo features included in the software are WishList searches, Season Pass recording, TiVo KidZone and TiVo Suggestions. The software is compatible with Windows Vista or XP and comes with a TiVo PC remote, TV tuner card, and an IR Blaster to create wireless IR connection between the cable or satellite box and the PC. A 1-year TiVo subscription is included. Availability is slated for October at $199 for the retail box or $99 for software only. Read more

TiVo, DirecTV to develop new DVR

NEW YORK (Reuters) - TiVo Inc is developing a new digital video recorder for satellite TV provider DirecTV , rekindling a strained relationship and potentially opening the door to boosting the number of its subscribers.

TiVo shares climbed more than 2 percent on Wednesday after the companies said that they had extended their current deal and added the development, marketing and distribution of a new high-definition DirecTV DVR featuring TiVo service. The product's launch is expected in the second half of 2009.

TiVo Launches Power||Watch Ratings

TiVo launched a new service in conjunction with Starcom called Power||Watch that provides second-by-second ratings services for broadcasters. The service takes demographics segments from 20,000 homes that use TiVo hardware.

The service provides the broadcasters with information on what commercials viewers watch and what commercials they skip. TiVo says that the viewers in the passive panel have agreed to let it use personally identifiable viewing data to compile the findings. Read more

TiVO to Offer Disney Movie Rentals on Demand

TiVO announced today that TiVO subscribers will soon get the ability to download movies from The Walt Disney Studios to broadband connected TiVO DVRs directly from the TV. The titles will be available to rent through a partnership with Disney-ABC and CinemaNow.

The rental period is very similar to Apple TV with 24-hours of viewing in standard definition. Some movie titles will be available in HD format as well. Pricing for the movie rentals hasn’t been announced at this time nor has a specific availability date for the service. Read more

TiVo Announces YouTube Videos Direct to TV

TiVo announced today that it would be offering its subscribers with broad-band connected TiVo Series3 and TiVo HD DVRs access to YouTube videos directly on their TVs. The new service will debut later this year according to TiVo.

TiVo Announces Q4 and Fiscal Year Financials

TiVo announced its Q4 and fiscal year end financials today saying that it's adjusted EBITDA is closing in on breakeven. TiVo reported a net loss for Q4 2007 of $6.4 million compared to a loss of $19.5 million in the same quarter the previous year.

TiVo also announced today that it had a trial going with Cox in New England using TiVo technology and Comcast has fully launched in New England using TiVo technology. TiVo says its Q4 service and technology revenues were $58.1 million compared to $57 million the previous year. Read more

E-Trade's Baby won the top Super Bowl Ad crown this year according to TiVo users. Justin Timberlake for Pepsi took second place and the Doritos spot featuring a mouse trap took third. Read more

TiVo Now Available in Canada

Commercial hating Canadians can now get TiVo service. TiVo announced today that its service is now available in Canada with the exception of Quebec for some reason. The DVRs are due to be on store shelves in time for the holiday season.

Canadian users will have access to SeasonPass recordings, WishList searches, Online Scheduling, TiVoToGo transfers, and multi-room viewing. Western Digital announced today its latest product called the My DVR Expander designed to expand the recording capacity of DVR systems. The My DVD Expander is verified compatible with TiVo HD and Series3 DVR systems.

The drives are available now at Best Buy or via the TiVo online store. With capacities of 500GB the My DVR Extender can store up to 300 hours of SD programming or 60 hours of HD programming. Read more
