Taiwanese Oculon surprises with a very small portable projector dubbed Hikari Pro920.
You can project a 12-inch diagonal screen with just over a foot of projection distance, and a 24-inch image from 1m distance. There will be a VGA and SVGA model of the Hikari Pro920.

Tiny Toyota iQ unveiled at IAA 2007
Toyota unveiled the iQ concept car for urban use. The iQ is even a bit shorter than the Volkswagen Up! which was also unveiled today.
The iQ carries 3-4 people and measures a very short 2.98m. The width of the small car is 1,68m.

Tiny Volkswagen Up! at IAA 2007
Volkswagen unveiled the Up! city car at the IAA 2007. The tiny car has the motor at rear again, like the classic Volkswagen Beatle.
The Volkswagen Up! is 3,45m long and 1,63m wide and has space for four.
The 3-cylinder engine is supposed to only need 3,5l/100km (67mpg).

IFA 2007: Tiny Samsung VP-HMX10A Camcorder
Samsung will introduce the new Samsung VP-HMX10A digital camcorder at the IFA 2007 in Berlin.
The Samsung VP-HMX10A is not a full HD camcorder (e.g.: New Panasonic HDC-SD5 and HDC-SX5) it supports a resolution of 1920x720pixels (Hi-Vision).
Features of the Samsung VP-HMX10A include 8GB internal memory, SDHC slot, records in MP4 format and features a 10x zoom.

Hynix makes tiny 1Gb DRAM for Mobile Devices
Korean chip maker Hynix announces what the call the world's smallest 1Gb DRAM chip for mobile devices.
The new 1Gb chip is based on 66nm technology and supports 200Mhz clock speeds. Hynix specifies the data throughput with 1.6GB/s.

Logitech Announces VX Nano Notebook Mouse with Tiny USB receiver
Logitech has announced a new notebook mouse using the same scroll wheel technology from the original VX Revolution notebook mouse called the Logitech VX Nano. The most notable difference in the two mice is the new wireless receiver the Nano uses.
Typical USB receivers are large and sized like many flash drives. The new Nano uses a very small wireless receiver that doesn’t stick out from your notebook much, allowing you to leave it plugged in at all times. Protruding only 8mm from the side of your notebook there is no worry of breaking the receiver by leaving it plugged in at all times. Read more

Sharp tiny 2MP Camera Module
Sharp introduces the industry's thinnest 2MP CMOS camera module.
The 5mm thin 2MP camera module is aimed at mobile phones. The module has auto focus and can process 15fps UXGA resolution video.
Overall measurements of the camera module are 8.5×8.5×5mm.
A phone with this 2MP camera module would still be at least 7mm thick. So that module is not really helping in getting really thin (<5mm) phones.

The PQI Intelligent Drive i810 is small clean designed USB flash drive that comes in 1GB and 2GB storage sizes.
The measurements of the PQI i810 are only 30x15.2x5mm, which is about the size of a SD card. The USB plug slides out from the compact case.

Haier Sterling Tiny Mirrored Phone Coming
Haier readies another tiny phone for the U.S. market. Two weeks ago we reported about the tiny Haier Elegance phone. Today Haier informs us about the Haier Sterling mirrored handset that will ship starting July 7th.
The Haier Sterling looks like it is all metal, with only the black touchpad disturbing the shiny look.
Again this Haier phone is very small measuring 97x40x14.5mm (3.81x1.57x0.57inch). Features of the Sterling include 1.8 inch color screen, 1.3MP Camera (still and video), Mp3 music and MP4 video player, full WAP and Web access, microSD card slot and Bluetooth.

Tiny Epoq EMP-FT804 PMP plays AVI
Yesterday we reported about the new fashionable Epoq MP4 Watch. Today we got information about a small PMP Epoq is making dubbed EMP-FT804.
The Epoq EMP-FT804 features a 2.2 inch color screen and has touch sensitive buttons that light up reminding on LG's Chocolate interface look.
On interesting detail of this PMP is that it plays directly AVI file format. Most other PMPs in this category require you to convert the videos to the obscure NXV format.
The compact PMP measures 73.2 x 43.6 x 10mm and packs features like MP3 and WMA audio file playback, FM Tuner, voice recorder, photo viewer, built-in speaker, lyrics display, upgradeable firmware and miniSD card slot.

Tiny Haier Elegance Phone Ships
Haier known for their Pen phone has another tiny GSM phone on the market that is not much bigger than a lipstick case.
The Haier Elegance measures only 3.5" L x 1 1/4" W x 3/4" D (90x35x17.8mm) and weighs 2.24 oz (64g).
Haier still was able to pack tons of features into the shiny and small phone. Features include 1.1 inch color OLED screen, MP3 player, FM radio, micro SD up to 1GB supported, Bluetooth, games and alarm clock.
The tiny phone has a standby time Up to 200 hours, a talk time up to 3 hours and a media play time of up to 11 hours.

The Picco Z RC helicopter was huge last Christmas. Of course more vendors want in on this hot toy trend.
This new R/C helicopter has a bit more refined body design and seems even a bit smaller than the Picco Z.

R2-D2 is very trendy again these days. We have seen R2-D2 mailboxes and R2-D2 trashcans recently.

Tiny Robot Makes Cockroaches Believe it is one of Them
A team of European scientists developed a tiny robot that makes cockroaches believe it is one of them.
The LEURRE Project already got some press back in 2004 (see Times), but now the researchers actually can demonstrate that their plan worked and the cockroach robot can lure real live cockroaches to a place of its choice.
The robot cockroach moves like a real one and because cockroaches have bad sight, they do not see that the robot is just a box on wheels. For additional efficiency the researches covered the robot with cockroach pheromones. All cockroaches in the test left their preferred dark spot to hang with the robot.

Teeny Tiny iriver S10
Smaller portable gadgets are what every good geek really wants for Christmas and iriver has one of the smallest MP3 players on the market called the iriver S10. As much as I hate to break your geeky heart, geeks in the USA it’s not available here yet.
The little player uses a 1.15” OLED display to show your pictures and other payer info. The S10 supports MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG Vorbis up to Q10. The reviewer at Everything USB found the bundled headphones to be lacking and noted that the player doesn’t support album art. Read more

Tiny Picco Z Making Big Waves
We have been talking a lot recently about the cool little Picco Z RC helicopter. Over the last two weeks, we have posted both a written review as well as a video review of the fun to fly RC toy. Now CNN is also covering the tiny Picco Z as well.
According to CNN Silverlit, the maker of the Picco Z, is expecting to ship a huge amount of the tiny toy this Christmas season to the tune of 150,000 units. That is a lot of any type of toy, but for one that has no traditional advertising it is very impressive. Read more
