As reported earlier today, Walmart has unveiled their new early Black Friday deals available in-stores starting this Saturday, November 21st. As we have been doing in previous weeks, we are taking a closer look and analyzing the new early Walmart Black Friday deals to see if they are hot deals or not.

The new round of deals features toys, a 26-inch Vizio HDTV and music video game bundles from the Hero franchise. This report focuses on the 26-inch Vizio HDTV. Starting Saturday Walmart will offer this 26-inch Vizio LCD TV for only $248 (was $347). There is a limit of two per person.

Vizio Takes Top spot in US TV Shipments

Vizio has announced that it has continued sticking it to the big name brands and has again grabbed the top spot on the list of LCD TV shippers in America. In Q3 2009 Vizio grew its LCD sales 87% compared to Q3 2008. Vizio also grew 200% in full 1080p HDTVs and premium features like 120Hz and 240Hz refresh rates.

According to iSuppli, Vizio shipped about 4,075,000 TVs for the year so far while Samsung took second place with 3,894,000 units shipped. Sony was in third with 2,362,000 units shipped, LG was fourth with 1,739,000, and Toshiba took the fifth spot with 1,686,000 units shipped. Read more

Sony Licenses VIZIO Digital TV Patents

Sony and Vizio have been fighting in court over patent disputes for a while now. Today Vizio has announced that Sony has licensed its patent portfolio for use. Vizio claims it is continuing to expand its patent portfolio.

"We are pleased with the result of our patent licensing efforts. It further demonstrates the technical strength and value of VIZIO's patent portfolio," said Rob Brinkman, VIZIO V.P. of Operations and Administration. Read more

Vizio Takes Top Spot in US LCD TV Sales, Again

Despite the poor economy, many consumers in the US are still buying larger consumer electronic devices like LCD TVs. The big change is that these consumers are often looking for better prices before they buy. That fact is helping Vizio, one of the lower priced TV brands to rack up big sales numbers.

Vizio has again been ranked as the biggest shipper of LCD TVs in America for Q2 2009. The company grew its sales a whopping 165% year over year and 10% compared to the previous quarter. Vizio lead sales in America for screens in the 21.5 to 24-inch, 26-inch, 32-inch, and 37-inch categories. Read more

Vizio Announces XVT HDTV Line

Budget HDTV maker Vizio has announced a new line of TVs called the XVT series. The new line includes the flagship XVT series featuring TruLED with smart dimming and a 240Hz refresh rate in 42-inch, 47-inch, and 55-inch sizes.

Select models in the new line will also feature a new Vizio offering called Vizio Internet Apps with a wireless Internet connection built-in. Also offered are slim line full 1080p 120Hz refresh rate HDTVs in 32-inch and 37-inch sizes. Read more

Vizio Tops in US LCD TV Shipments

The economy is bad in the US and abroad and many consumers simply don’t have money to spend on things like new TVs. The consumers that do have money to spend are looking very closely at the value of the items they are buying.

This means that some cheaper brands are seeing a surge in sales as consumers look for lower cost alternatives to the major brands. DisplaySearch has released its preliminary shipment numbers for Q1 2009 LCD TV shipments and has discount brand Vizio in the top spot beating out Samsung and Sony. Read more

Vizio Asks FCC to Stop Unreasonable Funai Patent Enforcement

Vizio recently announced that it had become the second largest shipper of HDTVs in America after a big Q4 2008. The firm released a statement last week announcing it had asked the FCC to stop what Vizio calls unreasonable patent enforcement policies by Funai Electronics Co., Ltd.

According to Vizio Funai is not complying with patent license agreements that the FCC adopted for digital TV standards for America. Vizio is trying to get the FCC to stop Funai from unreasonable and discriminatory patent enforcement policies while the FCC is considering a petition for declaratory ruling on the topic. Read more

Vizio unveils 120Hz full HD LCD TV Line-up at CES 2009

VIZIO launches the VL and VT Series, enhancing the performance of Full HD 1080p LCD HDTVs with 120Hz Smooth Motion II technology at the CES 2009.
The Vizio VL Series consists of four new models ranging from 32" to 47" (VL320M, VL370M, VL420M, and VL470M).

Vizio Drops HDTV Prices for Holiday Shopping

VIZIO has announced price reductions on some of its most popular models in time for holiday shopping. Price reductions are being offered on 19-inch, 32-inch, 37-inch, and 42-inch HDTVs. The prices are part of VIZIO's Black Friday push.

The 19-inch VA19 TV will be $199.99 at Costco with a coupon. A 32-inch VP322 plasma TV will be $437, this is the most popular plasma around right now. The VW37 37-inch TV will be $499.99 at Costco today through the weekend. For those wanting full 1080p resolution the VOJ32LF 32-inch 1080p set will sell for $559.99 at Sears and the 42-inch VS420 will sell for $698 at Sam's. Read more

Vizio VP322 32-inch Plasma is I4U Top 100 Holiday Gift #11

Many people thought plasma HDTVs were a dying breed, but Vizio has shown otherwise. Last quarter worldwide shipments of plasma TVs grew at a greater pace than shipments of LCD TVs. Vizio Announces New HDTVs

Vizio announced today three new HDTV sets. Two of the new sets are LCD full 1080p TVs with 120Hz refresh rates and one is a new 50-inch plasma set. The pair of LCD sets includes the SV470XVT (47-inch) and the SV420XVT (42-inch). These sets both have 120Hz refresh rates and Smooth motion video. Both sets have two HDMI 1.3 ports on the side as well as two of them in the rear and TruSurround XT virtual surround sound.

An optional upgrade kit can add full wireless 5.1 surround sound with a wireless sub woofer and wireless rear speakers. The 50-inch plasma model is the VP505XVT. The set has full 1080p resolution and a pair of HDMI 1.3 ports on the rear of the set. Vizio also includes a HDMI cable with the set. The contrast ratio for the plasma is 30,000:1 and it features a Silicon Optix REON HQV video processor and 1200 nits of brightness. Read more
