New 15 inch MacBook Pro Announced at WWDC 09 and More Notebooks
Moments ago, Phil Schiller announced the release of a brand-new MacBook Pro during his keynote address (Engadget Live Blog) at the start of the WWDC (MacRumors). This new Pro will have a 15 inch screen, and a built-in battery with a 7 hour charge. Apple claims that a 'typical user' will see roughly 5 years of use before they see any diminished battery capacity. The new batteries are supposed to last more than 1,000 charges and are billed as much more 'eco-friendly' than other notebook batteries.
This new Pro is going to be the fastest netbook Apple has ever released. It's got a 3.06 Ghz Dual Core CPU, options for up to 8 GB of RAM, up to a 500 GB hard drive or up to a 250 GB solid state drive. Those are some impressive specs, and the price is...well, less excessive than you'd imagine. $1699 is the starting price, although some builds could cost as much as $2,229.

CES 2010 to be Stage for Windows 7 and OS X Snow Leopard Showdown?
Apple related products will have their own hall at the CES 2010 for the first time. Apple itself did not say yet if they are going to exhibit at the CES - most likely not. Still the iLounge Pavilion is featuring leading Mac developers and retailers. Apple stuff has been missing from CES completely because of MacWorld. Now things have changed since Apple decided to leave MacWorld.
CES 2010 could become the battle ground for the new operating systems from Microsoft and Apple. Both are expected to still launch in 2009, but when exactly is still up in the air. Of course it would be smart to have releases way before the holiday shopping season to drive sales in these hard economic times.

CES 2009 to be less crowded
The economic downturn is apparently going to hurt the biggest geek show on earth - the CES 2009.
The CES 2009 is set to start on January 8th that is about 6 weeks away. Usually at this time getting a hotel room during CES is a nightmare and if you find one prices are through the roof. This year the hotels page on the CES site features price cuts!
This is an indicator that companies are scaling down travel expenses and are allowing fewer people to attend CES. Of course it could also mean that overall less people are visiting Vegas these days, but on the other hand Vegas is too tempting even in a downward spinning economy.
