The components promise performance gains over currently used touchscreen products and are based on Wacom's Reversing Ramped Field Capacitive technology.

The components will be used in the retail, hospitality, desktop display, casino, and other businesses. Wacom says the new technology provides for drift-free touch control that is stable around metal and can be used while wearing gloves. The technology scales to displays up to 32-inches in size. The firm introduced a new multi-touch solution at WinHEC 2008 that allows users to navigate and control a computer with multiple fingers.

The design is compact allowing it to scale to multiple sizes according to Wacom and the device boasts a speed of 100 fps, a pointing accuracy of within 0.5mm and a resolution of 200 ppi. Wacom says markets for the multi-touch technology include the PC industry. Read more

The patent-pending technology uses a newly designed low-power circuit and a reversing ramped electro-static field to provide pin point precision.

Wacom says the new technology can be used in two ways by integrating into its OEM tablet PC technology or on other platforms that require only a finger to operate. Wacom says touch screens using its new technology have a transmissivity of up to 95% compared to only 80 to 85% in resistive touchscreens. Read more

The new Cintiq is called the 12WX and provides artists with direct pen-on-screen input with a low-profile, lightweight design.

The MSRP for the new 12WX is $999.99, which is low cost for the interactive pen display market. Wacom says that the Cintiq 12WX is perfect for multi-monitor environments or as a companion monitor or by itself. The device weighs 4.4 pounds and has a 12.1-inch TFT LCD screen with 1280 x 800 resolution and 24-bit color depth. Read more

Two new models have been added called the Cintiq 12WX and the Cintiq 20WSX. The Cintiq 12WX uses direct pen-on-screen input with a low-profile flexible design.

The 20WSX is called the world’s first wide-format desktop pen display. Wacom says the 20WSX combines elements of the Cintiq 21UX for users who don’t need the high resolution of the 21UX. Read more

The Wacom Bamboo supports Windows Vista's pen functions and also works with Apple OS X. The idea is that you can doodle and add handwritten notes to emails and documents to make them more personal.
The active area of the Bamboo is 147.6x92.3mm with overall measurements of 200x186x10.7mm. The accuracy is +/- 0.5mm and the tablet supports 512 pressure levels.
The so called touch ring on top allows for instant zoom and scroll. Read more
