H20 Audio Announces Waterproof Headphones

Topic:

H20 Audio Announces Waterproof Headphones Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Swimmers aren't the only athletes who need waterproof headphones. Marathon runners sweat like there's no tomorrow, a fact that leads to more than its fair share of busted, water-damaged headphones. That's why H20 Audio's new line of headphones (ipodnn.com) are built to withstand the pressures of a real workout, whether its under water or just soaked with perspiration.

Their new Surge Pro earbud headphones and Surge Sportwrap neckband headphones are both built to withstand heavy sweating, and can also be submerged in 12 feet of water without damage. Quality exercise headphones don't come cheap, though; the Surge Pro costs $100, and the Sportwrap costs $60. That's a lot of money for a pair of earbuds, but if you don't have to replace them every three or four months, it'll be worth it.

The Predator VX360: Waterproof, Wearable Camcorder

Topic:

The Predator VX360: Waterproof, Wearable Camcorder Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Are you into extreme sports, like water-skiing or dolphin-taunting or snorkeling in shark-infested water with open wounds? If so, have you ever wanted a wearable camera to take with you on your exploits in order to capture them for posterity? Well now you can, thanks to MotionTouch and Predator Technology, the two companies that collaborated together to make the VX360.

In short, the VX360 is a waterproof wearable video camera. It can stand being submerged up to three meters in water, and the manufacturer's claim it is tough enough to survive smacking into rocks. The whole product consists of a recording unit, which is worn on the arm and has large buttons for ease-of-use, as well as an LCD screen for video playback. The camera is a separate item and is meant to be worn around the head.

Waterproof Casio Exilim out now on Verizon

Topic:

Waterproof Casio Exilim out now on Verizon Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

The new Casio Exilim is now available on the Verizon network. The Exilim is a clamshell phone with a pivoting top, a tough “mil-spec” design, a 5.1 megapixel camera, and VZ Navigator. It's also completely waterproof, which is useful if you need to make phone calls or take high-resolution pictures while snorkeling.

From what I can see the Exilim looks tough as nails. It's dust, shock, and water resistant, and would make a perfect travel phone for someone who likes to wander off of the beaten path a bit. Sure, it costs $279.99 with a 2-year contract, but that's a small price to pay for a mobile phone that won't die on you in the middle of the Australian Outback or the deserts of Iraq.

Vivitar Waterproof Digital Camera is Three Kinds of Ugly

Topic:

Vivitar Waterproof Digital Camera is Three Kinds of Ugly Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Vivitar has a new digital camera that just might be the most hideous piece of digital camera tech to ever roll off the assembly line. It appears to be colored in a safety orange hue, perhaps to help keep the photographer from being shot if the cam is used on a hunting expedition. The color may go over well here in Texas at the University of Texas as well.

Ugly looks aside, the cam is waterproof to 30 feet so you can take pics as you swim or dive. The LCD display is a 2” color TFT and it packs in 4x digital zoom. The CCD is 6 megapixels and it can snap images at 2816 x 2112, 2272 x 1704, 1600 x 1200, and 640 x 480. Read more

Pentax Unveils the Waterproof Optio W20 Camera

Topic:

Pentax Unveils the Waterproof Optio W20 Camera Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review It's always fun to figure out what those one-letter prefixes that companies always attach to their product model numbers mean. In the case of Pentax, the "W" in their cameras seems to stand for "waterproof". The company seems to have found a niche in the underwater camera market, and they relish in it (as you can see in their cleverly Photoshopped promotional picture).

With 7 megapixels and a 4x digital zoom, you'll be able to take those seemingly out-of-reach underwater pictures with good clarity, provided you're only 1.5 meters underwater and don't stay there for more than 30 minutes. Read more
