Quote from the review: "SlingPlayer for Windows 2.0 Public Beta is, on the surface, not entirely different than the SlingPlayer of yore. Yet, when you first start using it, it will feel strangely foreign.

Midori discussed as Microsoft Windows Killer
Microsoft Research is working on the next OS that will eventually replace Windows as we know it. A leaked white paper that is the source of an article on SD Times triggered lots of coverage about Midori.
Midori is a stripped down and modular OS that centers around the net. I am not sure if Midori is the new name of MinWin that made a brief appearance last year.

PC Tune-Up 2.0 on Windows XP SP3 Review
I am a believer of the principle: Never touch a running system. Lately I broke it twice by installing Windows XP SP3 and by running the new version of PC Tune-Up 2.0 from Large Software. In both cases promises of getting a more responsive system have been the reason to try it.
After installing SP3 on my trusty 3 year old XP system I was open to test if the speed of the system can be improved further with a registry clean-up and optimization tool like PC Tune-Up.

The two Microsoft honchos demonstrated the multi-touch support of Windows 7. The video below shows the multi-touch feature in action on a Dell notebook with N-trig DuoSense technology. I have now seen enough multi-touch from Microsoft just release it and get over it.

Sinofsky says that Windows 7 is scheduled for a release about three years after the general availability of Windows Vista. This would mean Windows 7 is coming in 2010. Bill Gates said in April Windows 7 would already come next year.

Windows XP SP3 feels snappier and tighter
On Wednesday Microsoft made the Windows XP SP3 available on Windows Update. Since I am not as daring as I was when I was younger, I waited until then to install XP SP3 on my PC.
The first good news is that everything still works and the upgrade of the Service Pack 3 went down without issues.
It has been two days since the update and it might just be me, but XP feels better than before. There are less delays in file explorer ops and overall things seem snappier to me.
