A leaked white paper that is the source of an article on SD Times triggered lots of coverage about Midori.

Midori is a stripped down and modular OS that centers around the net. I am not sure if Midori is the new name of MinWin that made a brief appearance last year.

The system is called Jive and will be available to buy and ship on August 8th. The computer is capable of running Windows, Linux, Fedora, and Mac OS.

The Jive computer will start at $628 plus shipping. The computer will use an Intel E4600 Core 2 Duo CPU, 500GB HDD, 20x DVD writer, 2GB of RAM, NVIDIA 7300GS graphics, and 8-channel audio. The catch is that the system includes no OS. Read more

The tiny notebook uses a 7-inch TFT LCD and has a full size keyboard. The system running on Windows CE retails for $299.

Storage for the small notebook is 4 GB of flash memory and like the other RazorBook 400 systems, the CE powered machine is designed to boot up in 8 seconds. 3K says the small, low-cost notebook is perfect for students or mobile professionals looking for a cheap Internet appliance. Read more

MO-Call allows two users to place phone calls over a mobile phones web browser at a discounted calling rate compared to normal charges.

Morodo says that the Windows Mobile version allows mobile users with devices from Asus, HP, HTC, Motorola, O2, Orange, Palm and more to save up to 90% on international calls using its software. Both parties have to be using the MO-Call software to make and receive calls. Read more

Windows XP SP3 feels snappier and tighter Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review On Wednesday Microsoft made the Windows XP SP3 available on Windows Update. Since I am not as daring as I was when I was younger, I waited until then to install XP SP3 on my PC.

The first good news is that everything still works and the upgrade of the Service Pack 3 went down without issues.
It has been two days since the update and it might just be me, but XP feels better than before. There are less delays in file explorer ops and overall things seem snappier to me. Read more
