Intel X48 Motherboard Round-up: ASUS, ECS, Intel
Hothardware published a round-up of Intel X48 based motherboards.
Quote: "The first motherboard comes from ASUS, and is a member of the gamer-oriented Republic of Gamers series, which we have taken a few looks at in the past. We've been mostly impressed by what they've offered in this series, and expect no less with the Rampage Formula. Next up is the X48T-A from ECS. We can honestly say that we haven't seen much from ECS in the past couple of years in the enthusiast segment, so we aren't exactly sure what to expect, but if early impressions mean anything, this "Black Series" board means business. Finally, following on the heels of their popular Bonetrail X38 board, Intel has sent along the DX48BT2, which, like the X48 chipset itself is more or less an update of the original.

Asus and Intel X48 Motherboards compared
The TechReport compares the Intel DX48BT2 and the Asus Rampage Formula motherboards.
Quote: "Although Intel's processors and chipsets have long been embraced by PC enthusiasts, the company's motherboards have largely been ignored. Years ago, it was easy to see why. Intel motherboards didn't come with the tweaking and overclocking options that we crave, and that was understandable, since we never really expected Intel to endorse overclocking. However, times have changed, and so has Intel's tune. The firm now has several products targeted specifically at enthusiasts, including the new DX48BT2 "Bonetrail 2" motherboard that comes loaded with many of the features we'd expect from a modern, high-end mobo.

ThinkComputers published a review of the Gigabyte X48T-DQ6 Intel X48 Motherboard.
Quote from the review: "Gigabyte was one of the first two computer hardware companies that I was aware of, along with Kingston memory. More than a decade before I decided to build my own rig, I had seen Gigabyte's name associated with motherboards. They have been around since 1986, the dawn of the era of the PC. Today I will be looking at my first Gigabyte motherboard, the X48T-DQ6.

GIGABYTE X48T-DQ6 DDR3 Motherboard Review
Tweaktown published a review of the GIGABYTE X48T-DQ6 DDR3 Motherboard.
Quote from the review: "X38/X48 chipsets are the first chipsets to come out with true split PCI Express architecture. This time they are both running a 16/16 configuration. Added to this is the fact they are running PCI-E 2.0 specs as well as being XMP memory module ready; we now have a good overall platform. X48 adds to the already impressive array of features the X38 has along with much better overclocking support and official support for the 1600MHz FSB.

ASUS P5E3 Premium WiFi X48 Mobo Review
Tweaktown published a review of the ASUS P5E3 Premium WiFi X48 Motherboard.
Quote from the review: "Intel originally planned for the X38 chipset to be the big kahuna for the Core 2 platform, but unfortunately its extremely poor overclocking, heat generation and lack of support for the 1600MHz FSB made Intel go back and bring up a new chipset. X48 however is not actually a new chipset, rather a hand picked X38 silicon that works at higher FSB clock speeds along with a lower voltage draw than that of the X38. But this also means it carries a premium with it, thus Intel decided to give it X48 naming.
