XtremeNotebooks Launches First Xeon Quad-core Notebook
XtremeNotebooks has introduced the first notebook in the US that uses an Intel X3360 Xeon quad-core processor. The Xtreme 917v is now available with Xenon power and lots of other features.
Available options on the 917V include RAID 0, 1, or 5 arrays, dual NVIDIA 8800 or Quadro FX GPUs, Blu-ray burners, and OCZ SSD’s. XtremeNotebooks says that the Xenon powered system is perfect for mobile server deployments. Pricing is unknown at this time. Read more

Intel Announces New Xeon L5400 Series Processors
Intel announced new server processors today called the Quad-Core Intel Xeon L5400 series. The new parts use Intel’s 45nm manufacturing process and run at 50 watts total power or 12.5 watts per core. The processors will go up to frequencies of 2.5GHz.
The new L5400 series processors are 24% faster and have a 50% larger cache as previous generations according to Intel. The two new processors in the series are the L5420 and the L5410. The L5420 runs at 2.50GHz and the L5410 runs at 2.33GHz. Read more

Xeon CEO Says the Environment will be Better thanks to Blu-ray
According to Lou Panico, CEO of Xenon Corp the Blu-ray win in the format wars could help the economy and the environment. Bet you didn’t think a HD movie format could do those things did you? Xenon is a manufacturer of equipment for making the Blu-ray discs themselves.
Xenon says it is a world leader in pulsed UV technology and the leading producer of equipment used to make Blu-ray discs. The Xenon pulsed UV curing system is used to make both single and dual-layer Blu-ray discs. Read more

Intel announces new Xeon 5400 and Xeon 5200 CPUs
Intel announced new processors along with an extended 7-year life cycle support for 45nm Intel Xeon processors today. The new processors are the Quad-core Intel Xeon 5400 series and the dual-core Intel Xeon 5200 series processors.
These processors are intended to be used with Intel’s new power-optimized 5100 memory controller hub chipset. Together the new chipset and processors represents the first 45nm CPU platform for thermally constrained bladed applications. Read more

Intel Launches Xeon 7300 Family Processors
Intel has launched the first industry-standard quad core processors for high –end multi processor servers. The new CPUs are designed specifically for use in multi-processor servers and fall under the new quad core Xeon 7300 series processor family.
Intel promises more than twice the performance per watt over the previous generation of dual core processors. Processors included in the family are up to 2.93 GHz at 130-watts. The Xeon 7300 family also includes processors that use 80-watts or 50-watts intended for use in blade servers or high density rack systems at a 1.86GHz frequency. Read more

New Intel Xeon Processors X5365 and L5335
Intel introduced two new quad-core Intel Xeon processors.
Designed for companies running performance-critical server and workstation applications, the Intel Xeon Processor X5365 is the industry's first 3.0 GHz quad-core processor to fit inside a standard 120 watt power envelope. The X5365 also features front-side bus (FSB) speed of 1333MHz.

Quad-core Xeon Details Surface
DailyTech has details of the upcoming Quad-core Xeon processors from Intel. The Xeon CPUs will share the same design of the recently announced Intel Core 2 Quadro along with the same Kentsfield core. There are no differences between the Core 2 Quadro and the Xeon quad-core CPUs save name and target markets.
