New Samsung YEPP P2 DMB and YEPP S3 Players unveiled

Samsung introduces the Yepp P2 DMB enabled portable video player and the Yepp S3 DAP.

The new Samsung P2 features besides DMB TV a large 3 inch touchscreen and the slick player is only 11.9mm thick.
Other features of the Samsung P2 include Bluetooth 2.0, and 4GB, 8GB, 16GB capacity options.
The Samsung P2 sells for 259,000 won (~$249), 309,000 won (~$297), and 389,000 won (~$374) respectively in Korea. Read more

In October Samsung released new color versions of the YEPP T9 to target female buyers.

Samsung Releases YEPP T9 Players for the Ladies

Samsung announces in Korea new color variations of the YEPP T9 portable music player to attract the female buyers.

Samsung thinks purple is the color that women find attractive on the YEPP T9 player. Not sure if that is going to fly. I guess the ladies prefer to stick to the black version of this interesting DAP.

Samsung already provided a glimpse of the new YP-T9 at the IFA 2006 a couple of weeks ago. Now more details and photos appeared of the new Samsung YEPP T9 digital audio player.

The Samsung YP-T9 runs a Macromedia Flash based user interface and features a 1.8 inch color display. Battery life is a good 30 hours.
We reported already that the Samsung T9 will have Bluetooth for wireless headsets. Read more

Samsung YEPP YP-F2 Officially Announced

The Samsung YEPP YP-F2 player has already appeared on the net a couple of weeks ago, now Samsung officially announces this small flash music player officially in Korea.

The Samsung YP-F2 weighs 20g and can be worn as a pendant. It measures 28x52x15mm. Supported audio formats are Ogg, WMA, ASF and MP3.

Other features include FM-Tuner, lyrics viewer and USB 2.0. Read more

Korean site MPNavi has a review of the new color display flash player Samsung YP-T7.

The tiny new Samsung comes in 256MB, 512MB and 1GB versions. The music player measures 37x13.3x62mm and weighs 35.5g.
The YP-T7 features: Photo viewing, FM Radio, USB 2.0.

Samsung Yepp YP-T5V Digital Audio Player Review

DesignTechnica reviews the tiny Samsung Yepp YP-T5V we reported about in March. Samsung also already announced a follow-up model the Samsung Yepp YP-ST5.

"Samsung claims that their Yepp YP-T5 digital audio players are the smallest of their kind. After getting our hands on this miniscule player, there is little reason to argue otherwise. But do not let their small size fool you, for the YP-T5 series packs more features that many players of considerably larger size. The Samsung Yepp YP-T5V features 256MB of internal storage while the Yepp YP-T5H comes with 128MB. The only difference we can tell between the two models is the storage capacity and color.

As we see digital audio players shrink in size, there are only a few size-limiting factors, including the size of the battery and the internal flash memory. The 128MB YP-T5H has a street price of around $110 while the 256MB YP-T5V can be found at just under $150. Considering you are paying only $40 dollars more for an extra 128MB, the YP-T5V appears to be a solid value."

Samsung YEPP YH-999 Portable Media Center Gadget

Samsung introduces Personal Video Player based ont the Microsoft Portable Media Center OS.

Update 07/12/04: Now on Sale at Amazon.com for $499.88!

Samsung goes on to say on their Yepp YH-999 site to talk about beeing the first to deliver a PMC device. Not sure what criteria they base that on, but iRiver also has a PMC Version of their Personal Video Player announced. The Samsung Video Player was first shown at the CES 2004 and is supposed to hit US stores in July.

In any case the YEPP YH-999 looks pretty good and features a 3.5" LCD screen, 20GB HD and USB 2.0. It measures 3.8"x4.2"x08" and weighs 7.9 ounces.

So this summer looks like the RCA Lyra RD2780 and the Archos av380 finally get some competition and we will have more portable MP4 players to choose from.
