A survey of 600 college students found that 43% identified smell as a quality they most liked about a physical text book.
Reason enough for CafeScribe to send out scratch and sniff stickers with a musty old book smell to customers beginning in September. Read more

Sony Launches e-Book Gadgets and Publishing Venture

Sony Launches e-Book Gadgets and Publishing Venture Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Just when the e-book market looks very gloom (see recent story on CNet), Sony and 15 other companies form a Joint Venture developing electronic publishing service.

The new company, Publishing Link Ltd., will distribute book content over the Internet and Sony will sell the hardware used to read the content. The service is to start in spring 2004.
Under the plan, members will be able to download content and read it using personal computers and the Sony manufactured e-book players for a two-month period for each book. More on this at The Washington Times
