eBay Sells Skype

The rumors became true today and eBay is selling Skype to an investor group led by Silver Lake and includes Index Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz and the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Investment Board.

eBay still keeps a stake of 35% in Skype. eBay is expected to receive approximately $1.9 billion in cash upon the completion of the sale and a note from the buyer in the principal amount of $125 million. Read more

Dreamaid.com: Ebay for Artists

If so, you might want to look into dropping by Dreamaid.com and auctioning your artwork there. Listing a product is totally free, although if it sells the website will take 10% of your earnings as payment.

Dreamaid isn't just about helping struggling artists sell their work. They also run a charity called, appropriately enough, the Dreamaid Charity. It offers support for poor local artists by offering them jobs, Internet access, cameras, and exposure. When you list a product on Dreamaid you can choose what percentage of your sale will be donated to the charity. Customers browsing the site can see how much of their purchase will help the charity, which could motivate them to buy.

Palm Pre: On Ebay for $900

Some lucky fellow from Encino, California got his hands on a whole mess of Palm Pres and, in true Internet form, he's selling them on Ebay. The price? $899.99, for a phone you'll be able to purchase legally in less than 24 hours. I'm not sure why someone would pay hundreds of dollars over retail price for something that will be out everywhere tomorrow.

If you are the kind of person who wants to spend $900 on a phone, you might be out of luck anyway. The listing has been removed for one of two reasons. Either someone at Palm found out and demanded the auctions be removed, or the seller received a bunch of private offers.

Marilyn Monroe Pics on Auction at eBay

You can buy just about anything on eBay, from cars to computers and everything in between. One of the iconic actresses of old Hollywood was Marilyn Monroe, who died infamously at an early age. Musician Buddy Greco has his memorabilia collection up for auction on eBay and among the offerings are the last six photos of Monroe ever taken before she died.

There were originally 36 photos on the roll of Monroe, Greco and other friends taken at the Cal Neva Lodge only five days before Monroe died. Only six of the photos remain. One person in the shots up for auction is hair stylist to the stars Jay Sebring. Sebring was later murdered by the Manson Family along with Sharon Tate in 1969. Read more

I have made it no secret over the years that I loathe eBay. I hate its policies, I hate its penchant for coming down on the buyer's side no matter the circumstances, and I hate that you are all but forced to use PayPal. Many feel the same way I do about the auction giant, but like many other things in life, you don’t have a lot of choice. If you want to rid yourself of stuff you don’t need and make a few bucks online its eBay.

It was bound to happen. You can make money from free stuff on eBay. I actually was searching eBay for the Super Bowl 3D glasses last week and there were still none listed. Now eBay is flooded with Super Bowl 3D glasses offers.
As reported the Super Bowl 2009 will see the biggest resurrection of 3D on TV with the broadcast of two 3D commercials and the distribution of 125 million free 3D glasses. DreamWorks will show a Monsters vs. Alien 3D spot, Super Bowl 2009 will also feature a 60s 3D SoBe Lifewater commercial marking the return of the ultra-hip SoBe lizards.

eBay Sees Black Friday Shopping Increase

eBay reports that it saw an increase in shopping activities on its network of websites including eBay, PayPal, and Shopping.com. eBay shoppers reportedly took advantage of the $1 holiday door busters and Bid on $1 auctions.

Shopping.com reports that the most searched for item in its store was the Nintendo Wii and the Wii Fit. PayPal says that it saw 34% more transactions than it had the same time in 2007 and a 26% increase in online payment volume for Black Friday. The most sold item on eBay for Black Friday was the Nintendo Wii with 3,171 sold and the Wii Fit with 1,059 sold. Read more

MXenergy Runs eBay Auction for Natural Gas

Natural gas users in Ohio have a new way to get the best price on natural gas from MXenergy. The gas company is running an auction on eBay for customers on Columbia Gas or Dominion East Ohio to bid on the rate for natural gas.

According to the firm if bids exceed its 12 month fixed rate excess will be donated to charity. The company says that the eBay auction is a way to allow customers to control their own energy costs. eBay Changes Fees for Fixed-Price Auctions

EBay has announced that it is supporting sellers by dramatically lowering fees. EBay says it has lowered its Buy It Now express listing fee by more than 70%. The new flat rate for fixed-price auctions is $.35 for a 30-day listing.

The change in pricing takes place on September 16th and eBay claims the new listing fees are the most competitive pricing it has ever offered to sellers. Many longtime eBay users will remember the last time eBay claimed to have reduced fees, it actually increase them by adding more cost to the final value fees. Read more

Baby listed on eBay Auction in Germany

A couple from Bavaria, Germany listed their new-born baby on eBay for 1 Euro.

The crazy auction was up for two hours. eBay users reported it and eBay and the Police identified the parents. They said the auction was a joke. Police sees it very differently and took away their child and has launched an investigation into possible child-trafficking. Read more

eBay Unveils Top 10 Areas for eBay Sellers

eBay has revealed its top 10 markets across the US for selling the most items on eBay. eBay says that Fort Lauderdale, Florida alone generated $630 million in eBay revenue last year. Other hot markets for eBay sellers include LA, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Orange County, Washington D.C., Houston, and more.

eBay says that these cities and counties in all generated over $7 billion in sales in 2007 and accounted for 55% of sales of all eBay sellers in the US. It seems that eBay revenues will be ever larger this year as millions turn to the auction site to sell items in order to pay for the skyrocketing costs of food and fuel. Read more

Asus officially announced the Asus Eee PC 900 with the 8.9 inch screen mid-April. The Asus Eee PC 900 is supposed to ship on May 12th in the United States. If you cannot wait that long, the Asus Eee 900 is readily available on eBay.

Mostly Asian eBay merchants based in Hong Kong or Taiwan ship the new Asus 900 world-wide. The price is between $600 and $700. The MSRP for the Asus Eee PC is set at $549. Read more

eBay sold More than $152 Million in MP3 Players in 2006

A company called Packaged Facts released a report recently that showed that in 2006 eBay sold $152.5 million in MP3 players alone. Packaged Facts says this data is a window into the mindset of online MP3 consumers.

The report is based exclusively on primary data from eBay and looks at MP3 player trends. The sales figure covers more than 1.4 million new, used and refurbished MP3 players sold over the year on eBay. Read more

eBay Sales Figures Still Put Xbox 360 and Wii Above PS3 in Sales

Today Sony announced that their 60GB PS3 stocks were depleted, so no more of the 60GB version are around to be had. Another story making its rounds today says that the PS3 sales on eBay have declined while Xbox 360 and Wii sales are up.

According to Punch Jump eBay sales data showed that the Wii had a 10% increase in sales over the past two weeks. It ranks as the top selling console for the past two weeks and caries an average selling price of $396.50. Read more

M300 Wristphone available on eBay

The M300 Wristphone we heard first about by Australian SMS Technology is now selling on eBay UK under the Korean brand Ktech for £129.99 (~$255). SMS Technology quoted a price of about $500.

Update 06/27/07:
The M300 watch phones are illegal copies of SMS Technology. Please do not purchase and rather get the new and better M500 from SMS Technology.

The Ktech M300 looks slightly different from the SMS Technology promoted M300 and does not have a metal bracelet. If Ktech is the real manufacturer of this mobile phone watch is not clear. My research did not find a Ktech company that fit the profile to make wristwatch GSM Phones.

As reported SMS Technologies skipped the M300 after delays and is supposed to ship a new more advanced Wristphone dubbed M500. Read more

It seems that Bo duke himself (John Schneider or Clark’s dad in Smallville for the younger readers) decided to put up his very own replica of the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazard. John decided to sell the car off to raise money for his next movie.
