Is it iDog, i-Dog or e-Dog?
Germany gets the Sega/Hasbro iDog, but it is called e-Dog to help confuse people.
Just found out that Hasbro started to sell the iDog in Germany under the name e-Dog. I wonder why Apple did not had this genius idea to call the iPod e-Pod in Germany. Oh, I actually know why, because it is a stupid idea.
I am really against different product names or even worse product ids for consumer electronics around the globe. It is just not reasonable anymore in our global internet society.
On the other hand, Hasbro maybe wants to hide the fact that the e-Dog is quite expensive in Germany. The Hasbro e-Dog sells for 34,99 Euros (~$41) on Amazon.de. In the United States the i-Dog sells on Amazon.com for only $22.99. That is almost half of what the e-Dog costs in Germany. For Germans it is about as expensive to import the Japan only pink or blue iDog from Japan than to buy the standard white e-Dog.

Pink Sega iDog is Coming
Sega announces in Japan a pink and a light blue version of the iDog (Hasbro i-Dog in US) music dog.
After the iPod white of the
original iDog, a pink version had to come. To "Pink" a gadget is the trend for this holiday season. Just look at the pink RAZR for instance.
Sega already issued a special edition Atmos branded iDog.
Update:
Gadget shop Audiocubes takes pre-orders for the pink and blue iDogs, which will ship on November 1st.

Every product listing has a direct shopping link, but also links to price

Blue Sega iDog Atmos
Sega Toys partners with apparel company Atmos to release a blue Sega iDog.
The Atmos iDog is only sold at Atmos stores in Japan. I really like the white Sega iDog much better. Not sure if the blue one will be a big seller.
The Sega iDog connects to MP3 players and can be use as a speaker, but it also has sensors to react to users by moving its ears and light up LEDs. Sega introduced the iDog this January.
More details in this Sega Toys press-release (Japanese, pdf).

Sega iDog Music Pet Robot on Sale Now!
|
Update:
Japanese Gadget Exporter AudioCubes has the new interactive Sega iDog music robot dog on sale. Sega announced the music loving robot dog in January 2005 in Japan. The iDog is capable of changing its feelings from happy to angry by moving it's ears and rotating the head and by changing the color of the 7 LED lights on its head. The idog music bot has stored music sequences and melodies it will play based on the interaction with its sensors. For instance it gets happy when users touch its ears and pad on its head. It gets surprised when users touch its nose or wave in front of him. The Sega iDog will become angry when users touch its tail. A MP3 Player like the iPod can be attached to the iDog via 3.5mm audio cable. IT has a mono-speaker built-in. A microphone is also present in the iDog. The Sega Toys iDog measures 116x107x100mm. Batteries hold for 3 hours. AudioCubes sells the iDog for $89.00. Read more Posted on Sat, 2 Apr 2005 00:07:32 CST | by Luigi Lugmayr I4U Weekly Gadget Flyer - Gigabeat F60 Review, iDog, Darth Tater
