New Apple iPods, MacBooks, and iMacs still to come this Fall
We already reported about new iPod nano rumors and other rumors of new products that Apple is supposedly still introducing this year in time for the Holiday shopping season.
AppleInsider compiled a roadmap of rumored Apple announcements expected in the next two months.
Apple is seen to release new cheaper iPod touch players and as mentioned above new iPod nano players.
Additionally new MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks are rumored.

Sony Adds iPod Compatible Car Stereos
Sony announced four new car stereos for its Xplod line that connect directly to iPods. The stereos can also charge the iPod or iPhone while on the road. The first Sony car stereo to get this capability is the CDX-GT630UI.
In addition to connecting to the iPod, it also offers USB connectivity and the ability to connect to other MP3 players. Other features include Sony's Zappin function for searching for music. Zapping is like a seek button, but it plays clips from your own music library. Read more

iPod nano 4G, iPod Price-cuts and iTunes 8 Rumors
Kevin Rose, founder of Digg, posted some digg worthy iPod rumors and a photo of what is supposedly the new iPod nano with the tall form factor we already reported about.
Besides the new nano the iPod touch is supposed to get some cosmetic changes. Kevin Rose also says that his sources tell him about rather large price-cuts for iPod players to distance them from the $199 iPhone.

Bose SoundDock Series II for iPod and iPhone Announced
When the new iPhone 3G launched many buyers were upset that it did not work with many original iPhone accessories. One of the original iPhone accessories that specifically did not work with the iPhone 3G was the original Bose SoundDock.
Today, Bose announced its new SoundDock Series II Digital music System for iPod and iPhone. The new system is specifically certified to work with the iPhone 3G and is the first SoundDock from Bose certified for Works with iPhone. Read more

Sony Launches Wireless Multi-room Audio System for iPod
Today Sony announced a new wireless multi-room Audio system specifically designed for iPods called the S-AIRPLAY system. The system delivers audio wirelessly to included speakers without causing interference with other household devices.
The system includes one docking station and two wireless speakers and can transmit to up to 10 speakers at the same time. Features include an AM/ FM tuner that can be listened to in one room while a user in another room listens to the iPod simultaneously. Read more

iPod nano G1 Batteries could Smoke or Spark says Apple
Now I cannot sleep anymore. My trusty old first generation iPod nano could start a fire if it is one of the rare ones with battery issues sold between September 2005 and December 2006.
As reported an iPod nano exploded and caused fires in Japan. Apple responded in saying that there have been very rare reports that they could tie to a specific battery supplier for some of the first iPod nanos.

Overheated iPod nano caused Fires
TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's trade ministry said on Tuesday that three fires
had been caused by overheating Apple iPod nanos, which it said could be due to a
battery defect.
No one was injured in the three fires involving the music players made by Apple
Inc but the government said in a statement Apple had reported two other cases
where people had suffered minor burns.

If you have ever said that you'll by an iPod dock when pigs fly, the iPig may be as close as you are likely to get. The iPig is available in three colors -- including white, pink, and yellow. The iPig's eyes are actually speakers, and the mouth under the nose glows green when the power is on.

New iPod nano 4G to be tall again
Rumors about new Apple products are running rampant this week. We already reported about new MacBooks and now rumors about a new iPod nano surfaced through iLounge.
I did not like the square format of the current iPod nano 3G and so I am glad to hear that the new iPod nano 4G is supposed to have a tall shape again. I actually still have my trusty old iPod nano 1G in use. The small size is just very convenient.

iPhone 2.0 Update for iPod Touch available
Now that the Apple activation servers are working you can also upgrade your iPod touch with the new iPhone 2.0 system software for $9.95.
I still do not know why Apple charges for this update on the iPod touch and not on the iPhone. The 2.0 update will enable iPod touch owners to purchase Apps from the App store.

AT&T lets you keep old iPhone to use as iPod touch
This is kind of obvious but still worth to keep in mind. AT&T will let you do with your old iPhone after upgrading to your new iPhone 3G what ever you want.
You can hand it down to a family member or just have it deactivated and use it basically as an iPod touch.
After deactivation the Wi-fi and media player features still work.
