iRobot Study Looks at the Balance of Home and Work
iRobot commissioned a study to be performed on its behalf by StrategyOne and the results were announced at the BlogHer conference in San Francisco over the weekend. The study looked at how people are balancing home and work life today across the nation. The study shows that people spend 40% of their waking in-home hours with household chores like vacuuming, mopping and cooking.
According to the study over 50% of Americans say that household tasks get in the way of enjoying the weekend and 49% say that thinking about home chores stresses them out. One in three Americans says they would rather stay at work than go home and face the list of chores. Read more

iRobot Verro Pool Cleaning Robot
We had a swimming pool when I was young and one of the worst things about summer to me was having to clean the pool. Thankfully, iRobot has a new line of pool cleaning robots to make that a non-issue for people this summer.
The Verro line of pool cleaning robots has been expanded with two additional models—the Verro 500 and Verro 100. The Verro 100 is designed to clean above ground pools and the Verro 500 is designed for in-ground pools. Read more

iRobot Looj Gutter Cleaner is cute, but I stick to the Leaf Guard
The robot experts at iRobot introduce the
Gutter Cleaning Robot Looj.
The iRobot Looj cleans an entire stretch of gutter from one location, reducing the number of times a ladder must be repositioned and climbed during gutter cleaning. The 2.25-inch high Looj drives under gutter straps propelled by a three-stage auger that dislodges and sweeps out dirt, leaves and other debris that can cause costly water damage, overspills and ice dams.
You can see the iRobot Looj in action in this video.

New iRobot Create debuts at CES
iRobot announces the iRobot Create, an affordable, programmable robot.
"Innovators dream of creating useful robots, but they often get bogged down with designing a mobile platform that works," said Helen Greiner, co-founder and chairman of iRobot. "iRobot Create fills a need in the robot industry for a standard, durable hardware platform on which to rapidly develop new, innovative mobile robots."
Create is based on the core technology of iRobot Roomba.
new platform provides access to robot sensors and actuators via an open interface. Create also features standard connections for electronics and threaded mounting holes that allow users to secure their inventions to the robot, streamlining the integration of third-party electronics such as sensors, cameras, arms and wireless connections.

Video Interview: iRobot's CEO Talks about the Scooba Robot
Here is another kind of interesting video report from CES 2006. Nikki Cash interviews iRobot's CEO and Co-Founder Colin M. Angle about their latest cleaning robot called Scooba.
We reported about the Scooba before. Mr. Angle says the Scooba
cleans a 200 square feet kitchen in about 30 min.
Well, that is the whole problem with those iRobots. You only can really use them with scheduler so the clean while you are away. Nikki was impressed though, I think she is getting one.
Watch the video report now.

iRobot Scooba Review
PC Mag reviews the new iRobot Scooba floor washing robot. iRobot started to sell the Scooba early November. As far as I know the iRobot Scooba is only available through the iRobot store for $399.99.
Quote:
"iRobot's Scooba Floor Washing Robot, the follow-up to the hugely successful Roomba home vacuum, the Scooba sweeps, scrubs, mops, and even dries the floor.
It does all this with very little interaction from you: The Scooba's robot brain lets it map out your room, navigate obstacles, and know when it has cleaned the entire room. At $399.99 list, this is a smart, powerful, effective solution for cleaning tile floors, but selling it to the American public could be a more uphill battle than they faced with the Roomba floor vac.

iRobot Takes Orders for the Scooba Floor Washing Robot
iRobot takes orders for it's new floor washing robot Scooba.
iRobot sells the Scooba for $399.99 with free shipping and a 30 day risk free trial.
Only issue is that the delivery time is 8-10 weeks.
The Scooba features a four stage cleaning process in a single pass. It vacuums, washes, scrubs and dries floors automatically. iRobot announced the Scooba robot back in May. I think the Scooba has what it takes to be as successful as the Roomba.

iRobot Scooba Will Sell for $399.99
iRobot announced the new generation Scooba floor cleaning robot in May.
iRobot sent out an email that the Scooba will sell for $399.99 from the iRobot store this November.
The iRobot Scooba floor cleaning robot brushes dirt up and then it washes the floor with fresh liquid cleaner. With the liquid it scrubs the floor and then picks up the dirty containing liquid to leave a dry floor. Sounds like the perfect way to clean a floor.
More details on the iRobot site.

Interview with iRobot CEO
CNet has an interesting interview with the CEO of iRobot, maker of the Roomba and other robots.
Colin Angle CEO of iRobot talks about the status quo of practical robots and the future. Get this, the Roomba vacuum robot shipped 1.2 million times. That is quite a lot. Number 2 is the Electrolux robot sold 40,000 times, although that one is much more expensive.

iRobot Scooba - Robotic Floor Washer
iRobot previews their next generation floor cleaning robot - iRobot Scooba.
The iRobot Scooba is designed to vacuum, scrub and dry hard floors automatically. iRobot partnered with The Clorox Company to develop a cleaning solution for the Scooba floor washer.
Unlike a conventional mop and bucket, the robot only uses fresh water and cleaning solution from a clean tank, so Scooba never spreads dirty water on the floor. Scooba cleans wet spills in addition to dirt and grime, and it is safe for use on all sealed hard floor surfaces, including wood and tile.
iRobot has a video and flash demo on their site explaining how the new robot mops floors.
