PwnageTool supports now iPhone Firmware 2.1

The iPhone Dev Team managed to update their iPhone jailbreaking tool pretty quickly after the release of the iPhone Software update 2.1 on Friday.
The new PwnageTool for iPhone firmware 2.1 works with iTunes 8 without any patches.
The new PwnageTool is not tested yet with the new iPod touch 2G. Read more

PwnageTool 2.0.2 ready for Download

After some minor delays triggered by the inclusion of Installer 4 beta the new PwnageTool 2.0.2 is available for download from iPhone Dev Team.
The new PwnageTool 2.0.2 release jailbreaks again the new iPhone OS 2.0.1 released last week.
Unlocking the iPhone 3G is still promised by the iPhone Dev Team in a future release. Read more

PwnageTool 2.0.2 with iPhone 2.0.1 Jailbreaking comes today

The iPhone Dev Team will release the new PwnageTool 2.0.2 unlocking and jailbreaking tool today. The new version is able to jailbreak the newly released iPhone Software Update 2.0.1.
Interestingly the iPhone Dev Team suggests not updating your iPhone 3G with 2.0.1 if you care about unlocking the iPhone 3G with a future version of PwnageTool. Read more

New PwnageTool 2.0.1 released with Bug Fixes

The iPhone Dev team released their iPhone 2.0 unlocking and jailbreaking PwnageTool 2.0 over the weekend. Now the group has already released a new version with several bug fixes.

The PwnageTool 2.0.1 includes a fix for the startup issue some people experienced, improves bl39 and bl46 autofind, and Sparkle AppCast URL is fixed. Read more

PwnageTool 2.0 iPhone unlocking Tool released

The iPhone Dev Team iPhone hacking group released their PwnageTool 2.0 unlocking and jailbreaking tool for iPhone Software update 2.0.

As reported the PwnageTool 2.0 is not able to unlock the iPhone 3G, just jailbreak it.
PwnageTool 2.0 unlocks though the old iPhone with the new firmware 2.0. Read more

iPhone 3G unlocking with PwnageTool 2.0 available soon

We already reported that the iPhone Dev Team has managed to unlock and jailbreak the iPhone 3G and iPhone 2.0 software. The group has now published a video of the soon to be released PwnageTool 2.0 that makes it really easy to unlock and jailbreak the iPhone 3G.

I am not quite sure where the unlocking of the iPhone 3G will lead. Will the possibility to install software outside the App Store infrastructure grow wild? The current iPhone users that have theirs unlocked will sure be waiting for this unlocking tool in order to upgrade to iPhone 2.0. Read more
