Overview:
The item up for review here is the Anydrive
Car MP3, a smallish device designed to allow you to play any
audio device (as long as it has a headphone jack that is) in
your car (or with a AC adapter, in your house) through your FM
radio, it has a small FM transmitter inside it, and has about 14
channels (7 in the lowest area of FM, and 7 in the highest).

control buttons and the area where the flash drive plugs in. |
It has input and
output jacks on the side of the device and on
the other side is the DIP switches that set the FM station
you will be transmitting on.

This device also has
play controls and volume for another option available to you, if you
have a 'thumbdrive' or any such device, you can plug it into the
Anydrive and play the MP3 files on it, Unfortunately, I don't have
one of the Thumbdrives so I couldn't test this (tried to borrow one
though, no good)
 |
| Besides the USB drive it also
can connect directly to audio inputs. |
I have been testing
the Anydrive with both my portable CD player and my Minidisc player,
both worked very well, as long as you weren't in an area with a LOT
of radio stations. In a place where the radio dial is crowded, it
can be hard to find a dead station that the device will work on
(would have been nicer to have access to the full range of the FM
dial, so you could use any frequency, on AirLinkTek's defense
though, they did pick the frequencies that aren't usually in much
use (the very beginning and very end of the dial))
Good Points:
flexible, can be used with ANY audio device.
Has ability to also use a thumbdrive loaded with MP3's for a music
source, just plug it in and press play on the Anydrive
Bad Points:
Only includes the DC power cord (for the car), limiting you to
use it in the car, would have been nicer if they also had an AC
adapter, or at least the Anydrive took batteries.
Limited frequency range, could have been better to have ability to
tune across the whole frequency range.
Conclusion:
All in all I liked the Anydrive, when it has a station it can use,
it gives a clear signal, limits the amount of wires in the car when
using it, and now allows people with either just an AM/Fm radio or
CD player in their cars to use any audio device for music or other
listening.
