Overview
With the word “fly” in the name, it better
do what it implies. Put me on that bar and let me feel like I’m
free, unimpeded, independent and wild. The Flybar provides you with
that freedom for as long as you choose to attain it or until your
body gives out. I guarantee you will slow down before the Flybar
does. Yes, it really is designed that well. Even the packaging
kept it compact, protected yet instantly ready to “jump” out of the
box and calling you to climb aboard. You can see and feel the
quality and ruggedness immediately while retaining its sleek,
futuristic design. After all, how do you replace the icon of icons
in the “pogo stick” without ensuring everything incorporated to
replace and improve it is first-class? This isn’t your parents or
grandparent’s old stick. If it had wings you’d think it really
could fly. In a world full of seriousness and never enough time for
fun; this simple concept, but futuristic looks and high tech
materials will provide you and your family with the release you
need. So, go ahead and relieve your frustrations. The Flybar can
take it. Let’s look at what it is and what it does.

The Flybar 1200 |
Take it out of the box; four solid screws to
attach the handle and you’re almost ready to go airborne. No steel
coils in this rebounding, gravity defying machine. How about 12
individual “rubber bands” called thrusters (I know you’ll ask where
the engine is when you’re on it) providing 100 pounds of energy
stretching approximately 300 percent beyond their normal length with
no degradation in strength. Did I say it the Flybar will place you
in “suspended animation” five feet above the ground. Hey, the
current record liftoff is over eight feet. It’s customizable for
anyone’s weight and desires for jump height. Just utilize the
included tool to engage the number of thrusters. The more you
engage, the higher you fly. This 20-pound aircraft aluminum exotic
machine can reach 1,200 pounds of thrust depending upon your
strength, skill and customized adjustments you make. Think of the
stunts and exercise benefits you can attain! I did a 360, one-legged
right angle turn and even managed to “stuff” a basketball on the
fly. It doesn’t take long to familiarize yourself and know your
limits (if you have any). You will want to open up the flybar
hardened shell to perform the thruster adjustments for the first
time, but soon after I managed to make any adjustments I wanted
through 12 unique and intuitive slots on the outside to engage or
disengage the thrusters based upon my desired height attainment and
particular rider needs. The outside truly looks like a flying
machine with tough rubberized covered handlebars and a protective
rubber cup in between for safety of the rider. The foot pegs also
have excellent skid plates to prevent slippage. The piston rod
extends down to the heavy rubber covered tip. The piston is also
adjustable for varying heights and to assist in providing you with
greater jumping ability based on extending or lowering that piston
rod. These adjustments can also be made externally through provided
numbered slots (three) using the included adjustment tool. The
instructions and diagrams are thorough giving you a great guide from
beginning to end. Maintenance is relatively easy and non-routine
due to the durability of the Flybar. The thruster elasticity will
lengthen with time, but you can even reposition them to gain maximum
life and performance. Keep dirt out of the bearings as much as
possible. Now you’re ready to learn, balance and fly the machine.
I haven’t been on a “pogo stick” in about 20
years, our kids and the children in the neighborhood gazed upon the
Flybar and I as some sort of “aliens”. However, once they realized
what this “foreign” (to them) machine could do; it was too late.
They were excited, inquisitive and wanted to jump on it right away
as well. I had to politely advise them that safety was important
and they needed to first learn all about it and it would take
practice. Next thing I knew, they were running home to tell their
parents about this “flying” machine and how much they wanted one.
Even though I had not been aboard a “stick” in sometime, it came
back to me almost immediately; as easy as riding a bike. Of course,
my kids had to show up their “old man”. It didn’t work. But I knew
it wouldn’t take long before they would far surpass what I could
ever hope to do on this fun machine. I have to tell you I was
reluctant the Flybar could do what it was supposed to do, but it
performed flawlessly and gave all of us a new sense of enjoyment and
many more days, weeks and years of fun. Please make sure, however,
if children operate the Flybar that they use a helmet, knee and
elbow pads. Chances are, they will never need to be impacted upon
because it won’t take long to grasp the entire device. And, oh how
you will gain some exercise and anaerobic activity for the whole
family with virtually every muscle group being utilized.
Conclusion
SBI Enterprises (manufacturer of the
original pogo stick) has engineered a far superior successor to the
“stick” and look for even more exciting variations in the future.
The Flybar 800 and 400 models will soon be introduced to accommodate
intermediate and child riders who do not need or desire the same
height expectations as adult “fliers” do. Those who love
skateboarding, snowboarding or other extreme, high flying
sports/devices will simply find the Flybar exhilarating and
challenging. See also
