Albany-area hotel pioneer John Desmond dies

John Desmond, a pioneer in the Albany, New York area hospitality industry who built a Colonial-era inspired hotel and banquet facility that bears his name 40 years after opening, died Saturday, Aug. 16 at his home in Philadelphia. He was 90, said his son, Ken Desmond. Common Core English scores down for middle school students in the Albany area
