CEA says EMEA will generate $8.8 billion in Gaming Sales Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review According to the CEA the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region is forecasted to generate video game hardware sales of about $8.8 billion in 2008. That number is up 18.4% from last year according to the CEA.

"Gaming is a very serious business and this news will be a positive boost to exhibitors participating in the International CES/hometech exhibition being held from May 25 to 27 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre," said Eckhard Pruy, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt GMBH, organizers of International CES/hometech. Sprint and Samsung have declared that mobile WiMAX technology is now ready for commercial service. Sprint says that Samsung’s Mobile WiMAX infrastructure has passed the rigorous commercial acceptance criteria Sprint uses.

The performance criteria qualifies equipment on the overall performance, handoff procedure and handoff delay. Sprint says that the testing was conducted in its Xohm lab environment and with the commercial service network in the Baltimore and Washington D.C. area. Read more

Siemens announced today that it has expanded its outdoor WiMAX portfolio with a new outdoor modem.

The Gigaset SE680 WiMAX and is designed to be used by enterprises for bridging long distances. The device enables high-speed Internet access at rates up to 20Mbps and will be available this summer running on 2.5 and 3.5 GHz frequencies. Read more

Japanese Mitsubishi Chemicals and Sumitomo Chemical work on spreadable electronics. The molecular soup would have OLED and Solar cell building blocks that could be spread or even sprayed ultra-thin onto walls or gadgets. Read more

AMD's ATI will push out the ATI Radeon 4800 series apparently featuring some hardware physics engine.

The projector carries a budget price of only $899 and packs in some nice features. The projector has 2600 lumens of brightness and a native resolution of 1024 x 768 supporting 720p HD and 1080i.
