Casual Wedding Game Aimed at Female Players

Casual games are a big market for many publishers. A new casual game has been announced from iPlay today and is part of its Dream Day series aimed at female gamers. The game is called Dream Day Wedding: Married in Manhattan and is for the PC.
The game allows players to create a New York City wedding in settings like the Upper East Side to Greenwich Village. In all there are 42 different levels of play and 27 locations in total. Players can also unlock honeymoon levels and Wedding Crisis levels. The game can be downloaded July 24th for $19.95. Read more

Guitar Hero: On Tour for Nitendo DS sold 300,000 Units in U.S.

Activision today announced Guitar Hero: On Tour has sold in excess of 300,000 units in North America in the first seven days since its launch, making it the largest North American launch for the Nintendo DS in the company’s history by more than a factor of eight.
In addition, Guitar Hero: On Tour’s performance ranks it as one of Activision’s top 5 best-selling launches of any title on any platform in the company’s history.

LucasArts & SOE Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game

LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment announced a new Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Star Wars Galaxies video game. The card game is called Champions of the Force and is set to launch later in the summer.
After the card game is launched in-game anniversary events will be held as well. The card game will only be offered online and will be available only to paid subscribers to Star Wars Galaxies. The card game will be combined with the adventures of the MMOG. Read more

Sony PS3 gains on Nintendo Wii Sales in Japan

The Sony PS3 console sales are getting closer to the still leading Wii console according to June sales numbers in Japan
Enterbrain reports that Nintendo sold 235,990 Wii consoles in the five weeks ended June 29th, while sales of the Sony PS3 reached 139,494 units.
The Xbox 360 does not count in the Japanese console race in Japan with only 10,964 consoles.

Current T-Mobile iPhone Customers get the Shaft when upgrading to iPhone 3G

It looks like T-Mobile is making it very expensive for current iPhone users in Germany to upgrade to the long awaited iPhone 3G. German Wirtschafts Woche reports that iPhone users need to buy themselves out of the current contract first.
For each month left on the current iPhone contract they have to pay 15 Euro (~$23). This only applies to contracts that are already running for at least 6 month.
The contracts are running for 24 month so if your iPhone contract is 6 months old you pay 270 Euro (~$428) plus the fee for the new iPhone 3G depending on which plan you choose.

Sony ''awfully close'' to selling a 27-inch OLED TV

Sony is currently selling an 11 inch OLED TV (XEL-1) for about $2,500. This TV is more like an expensive executive desk decoration than a home entertainment product. Sony's COO Stan Glasgow said this week at a dinner event in San Francisco that Sony is "awfully close" to selling a 27" OLED TV.

Firefox 3 Download Guinness World Record official

Mozilla announced it set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of software downloads in 24 hours.
The record-setting 8,002,530 downloads of Firefox 3 on download day have now been officially declared a Guinness World Record.
"The enthusiasm and creativity of Firefox fans was instrumental in achieving this record," said Paul Kim, VP of Marketing at Mozilla. "Our community members came together and not only spread the word, but also took the initiative to help mobilize millions of people to demonstrate their belief that Firefox gives people the best possible online experience."

NVIDIA informs about faulty GPUs, takes one-time Charge from $150m to $200m

NVIDIA announced a new financial outlook that includes information about issues with previous generation GPU and MCP products in notebooks.
The issues are big enough that NVIDIA plans to take a one-time charge from $150 million to $200 million to cover anticipated warranty, repair, return, replacement and other costs and expenses.
