The Cyberus ID700WTA Smart Info Engine; You Got Your E-Reader In My Media Player
Topic: Hot Gadgets
E-Readers are still a fairly young type of product, which means the market is currently glutted with different company's takes on the idea. Some of them, like the Barnes & Noble nook, are really cool looking gadgets that could end up establishing an e-reader dynasty. Others, like the Sony Reader, are about as exciting and inspired as a pair of flannel pajama bottoms. I'm not sure yet which category Cyberus' new ID700WTA “Smart Info Engine” falls under, but I've got strong suspicions it could end up being awesome.
The ID700 isn't a dedicated e-reader, of course. Cyberus bills it as being a hybrid reader and personal media player. I think they need to stop splitting hairs and just call the damned thing a tablet PC, but that's just me. The ID700 has a 7” LCD screen, and comes with a protective folding cover that makes it look slightly more like a book. While Cyberus doesn't run their own e-book store, this reader can handle most e-book formats and, as an added blessing, can read PDF files.

Black Friday 2009 To See More Shoppers Says ICSC And Goldman Sachs Survey
Topic: Thanksgiving and Black Friday Deals
There are many surveys and predictions about the 2009 holiday shopping season and Black Friday 2009 in particular. One new survey that was published yesterday caught my eye because it was published by ICSC and Goldman Sachs.
ICSC is the International Council of Shopping Centers. The organization had Opinion Research Corporation conduct a survey of 1,000 randomly selected consumers between 10/29 and 11/01.
According to the survey's result 16% of consumers will start their holiday shopping on Black Friday. This is up 6% from the ICSC 2008 survey.

Tethering For The Motorola Droid Is Near
Topic: Mobile Phones
Verizon subscribers now have yet another reason to choose the Motorola Droid. While the current incarnation of Big Red's flagship smartphone is fairly hot, it lacks the ability to act as a modem for your notebook. Thankfully, GearLog has it on good authority that Verizon is about to offer tethering on the Droid.
Starting ”early” next year, subscribers who choose the “Broadband Access Connect” plan will be able to use their smartphone as a modem for an additional $15 a month. Of course, your current unlimited data plan won't apply to tethering. Users will have up to 5GB a month. Anything more than that will result in the usual steep penalties.

All the major netbook makers unveiled Windows 7 netbooks back in October. One of the more popular is the Toshiba Mini NB205.
Liliputing has tested the Toshiba Mini NB205-N330 and published this review.

Grote Announces First Flexible LED Lighting Film
Topic: Technology News
Flexible LED sheets are here! At the 2009 SEMA show, Grote Industries has announced the release of the first commercially available LightForm flexible LED film. These LED sheets are less than 1 mm thick, and come in strips that are 10” long and less than 1” wide. You can cut them, paste them around corners and inside crevasses (time to rice up your car with some LED trim?), and even sew them into clothing. A whole new era of bright, gaudy fashion is about to arrive.
These LED strips come in red, green, or blue. You just peel off the back and apply the adhesive to a clean surface and, voila, instant festive lighting! Initially the uses for the LightForm film will probably be limited to decorating vehicles and costumes. Since the film is billed as durable and weather-resistant, it could also be perfect for decorating your home during the holidays.
