Introducing AMD LIVE!

AMD today announced what they are calling the next generation in digital entertainment -- AMD LIVE! (and apparently it must always be spelled in all caps and with an excalamation point.) First up is the AMD LIVE! PC brand, which will be supported by several manufacturers like Alienware, Gateway, and HP. Also announced is the AMD LIVE! Entertainment Suite, an all-encompassing software package to help you store and manage your digital content.

AMD has also partnered with several companies, like Nero and Network Magic, to complete their full slate of features with AMD LIVE! such as CD/DVD burning and remote access to your PC. AMD is joining the increasingly popular category of companies who want to get you to put your every last digital picture, music file, and video on their software/hardware platform.Using your computer for home entertainment is a phenomenon that continues to increase exponentially in its appeal, which explains the success of the Windows Media Center Edition PCs. In fact, Windows made a comment about the potential for new expansion with AMD's new software.

"We've seen remarkable enthusiasm for Windows XP Media Center Edition PCs, which enable consumers to enjoy their photos, music, TV shows and movies throughout the home," said Mike Sievert, corporate vice president, Windows Client Marketing at Microsoft. "By collaborating with AMD to deliver a powerful combination of digital entertainment software on a strong media platform, Microsoft is helping to provide consumers with rich, engaging experiences."

AMD LIVE! PCs will be available in June, and the Entertainment Suite is already available at the new AMD LIVE! website.
