Huge Video Ball Gives the Impression of Being Holey

It's another one of those lovely things that takes a bunch of technology and a ton of money to create an illusion that could be experienced much more easily. This massive ball is 5.5 feet in diameter and weighs 800 pounds, and via over 200 installed cameras and monitors positioned perfectly, it gives the rather surreal image that all the video monitors and cameras are invisible.

It's actually a very interesting idea, and although it has no real commercial application, it is quite a marvel, both technologically and artistically. It's an interesting project for Jonathan Schipper, whose other art pieces are either representational of something or are just plain bizarre.
