We have been able to buy factory over clocked video cards for a long time from companies like XFX and BFG but what we haven’t really seen from mainstream PC manufacturers are factory overclocked PCs.

Gateway is announcing that they will be selling factory overclocked PCs under the FX moniker, which is an odd choice considering the CPU inside the machines are Intel Core 2 parts and FX brings to mind AMD’s high-end FX CPUs. The FX systems will sport Core 2 CPUs starting with the E6700 and going all the way up to the X6800 Core 2 Extreme. The FX530XG will have the E6700, 2GB of PC5300 RAM and two 150 GB 10k RPM hard drives, presumably the Western Digital Raptors.
