Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced that the company sold 40 million Playstation 2 units throughout the PAL territories of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania.

Sony sold last month 100,000 PS2 units per week. That is quite a lot, considering the PS3 coming soon (ok not so soon for Europe). The PS2 is far from being dead. The Sony PS2 (Amazon UK, Amazon Deutschland) sells for €129.99 (£94.95) in Europe these days. More details in this Sony Europe press-release.
