Sony itself let the world know (after the PS3 has launched in Japan) that there are issues with some PS2 and PSOne games on the Sony Playstation 3.

Apparently some games play without sound, where others do not play at all. Sony says to actually fix this in the future with PS3 firmware updates.Sony did not specify yet which PS2 or PSOne games do not work.
